Our Coaching Community

As always, a big well done to our coaches today for looking after our young teams and preparing them to go out and do the business. After a long hard season, it is a tough job to keep things moving along but credit must go to not only coaches out today but all our coaches in the club, with over 30 coaches involved from academy to the girls section to the Schoolboys and right up to youth level, all who give up their time weekly to prepare our players. We are starting to see progress with all our teams and hope to reap the rewards in the not too distant future. Again, well done to all, your efforts are very much appreciated by the club.

U13 Result Carrick 0 Mooncoin Celtic 1

A stuttering display by Derek’s squad saw them secure three points with a goal from Jake Moore after a managerial decision swung the game in our favour by taking Jake out of the goal and sticking him up front with the clock ticking down. Big well done must go to young Josh Mcloughlin who was star of the show here in this game, his first outing for the u13s and that was after leading the u11s this morning also against Carrick.

u9s boys travel to Dungarvan

Our u9s travelled to Dungarvan for a number of games in Kilrush Park and found a strong Dungarvan group very hot to handle. A good learning experience nonetheless as they prepare for end of season tournaments.

U15’s Mooncoin Celtic 2 Kilmacow 0

Two goals in the 2nd half from Rizgar & Aaron was enough to secure 3pts today in the derby.

After a scrappy 1st half from both teams, Mooncoin settled early in the 2nd & started to take control of the game , chances came & went until Rizgar fired one in from 30+ yards and after that the lads started to relax & play . Aaron McLaughlin added another with 10 minutes left to seal it. Great squad performance well done to all , Man of the match Adrian Daly .

2A result: Mooncoin Celtic 1 Southend 1

A gutsy display by this group secured a point and if it wasn’t for Derek Tebay on goal it could have been another defeat. 0-0 at half time after a stop start first half. A dodgy penalty decision gave Southend the opportunity but up stepped Derek to stop the penalty.
Southend did take the lead with a neat header but fair play to the lads for battling on and young James Blackmore forced a handball from a defender and up stepped Kieran O’Brien to equalize. Point gained.

Primary schools team updates

Big well done to our local primary schools who took part in the Spar Fai 5-aside regional competitions this week. Carrigeen boys made it through in the Waterford section and the Mooncoin Girls of Scoil Mhuire qualified in the Kilkenny section. Carrigeen girls were very unlucky not to get through, going out on goal difference.Excellent return from both schools. Well done to the teachers for their time and efforts put in to the students in preparation and at the games. Our u15 coach Victor Bailey assisted with Scoil Mhuire girls as they sailed through their group.
