U14b League Result Mooncoin Celtic 7 Piltown 2

A very fast start from our girls had us 2 up thanks to Lexi and Anna R after only ten minutes. Piltown were not going to lie down in this derby match and got a brilliant goal from distance after fifteen minutes. But the girls starting turning the screw and got two great goals- one from Alexi and an excellent finish from Siobhán to make it 4-1 at half time. The second half was an even enough affair with further goals from Alexi, Anna R and Siobhán to finish the game 7-2.
A great win for our girls and an excellent team performance with all the subs contributing in the second half.

Weekend Review

U12A Results
Ferrybank 3
Mooncoin Celtic 1
Last Thursday the boys returned to action after a long lay off and the rustiness was evident from the off. They slowly grew in to the game but left themselves too much to do with Ferrybank getting their 3rd near the end after an og had got the lads back in to the game.

Tramore 1
Mooncoin Celtic 0
On Monday evening, a tight game in damp conditions saw Tramore edge the three points but a much improved performance by all on duty.

U11A League Result
Mooncoin Celtic 1
Ballinroad 5
A slick Ballinroad side showed why they are one of the divisions top teams. First half was tight enough with Ballinroad 1 up with Billy having our best chance. Second half saw Ballinroad stick away a few nice goals with TJ being very unlucky not to keep a couple out, Donncha scrambled home our own goal.

U11D League Result
Mooncoin Celtic 2
Ballinroad 0
A long wait for their second win is over for this group as they put in their best performance to date. A goal from Tom had them 1 up at half time and a second by Liam Mc secured the three points on offer.

U11E League Result
Mooncoin Celtic 0
Park Rangers 2

When these two met back in November it was a goal fest with park rangers winning.
This game was the polar opposite with us holding them scoreless until 10 mins to go when we were undone by a short corner that found itself in the top corner with the swirling wind.
We pushed for an equaliser and probably committed too many forward and park rangers scored again late on. A great battle by both teams on the day.

U11G League Result
Mooncoin Celtic 0
Villa 5
This was always going to be a tough game for our youngest group as champions elect Villa showed their class in the second half with a number of classy finishes. They had done very well up to half time.

U13 League Result
Kilmacow 1
Mooncoin Celtic 4
The boys bounced back from a recent defeat with a win in this Derby fixture with goals from Aaron, Noel, Richie H and Richard D to secure the three points.

U15 League Result
Bohs 3
Mooncoin Celtic 3
U15s travelled to Bohs with a depleted team due to illness on Saturday afternoon but it didn’t deter the team. Cathal M scored from kick off within seconds. Bohs fought back and scored a great goal to level the game. A penalty to bohs gave them the lead at half time. A good hard fought battle with both teams having shots at goal. Charlie M was brought down in the penalty area and scored from the resulting penalty making it 2-2. Bohs got a 3rd half way the 2nd half before Conor P scored from a well taken corner from Cathal. 3-3 the final score. Bradley pulled off some outstanding saves in goal, Ella, Charlie and Conor H were outstanding but the whole team played fantastic.
Great tough game from Bohs.

U12 Girls Result
Mooncoin Celtic 1
Southend 3
Our u12 girls came up against Southend this morning. Another very good performance. We started on the front foot and for the first quarter were on top, but unfortunately couldn’t convert any chances. Southend scored against the run of play and that really settled them. Both teams went toe to toe for the rest of the first half but our opponents scored a good goal on the stroke of half time. Both defences were on top for the second half but Aoibhe V found a way through, with a great finish.
A blatant penalty for the girls, towards the end of the half was not given, and an unfortunate mistake finished the game at 1-3 to Southend.
Well done to all the girls who are improving game on game. The commitment and hard work in training is really showing on the pitch.

U16 Girls Result
Mooncoin Celtic 3
Park Rangers 4
A cracker of a game with plenty action but unfortunately Park Rangers came away with the three points despite a hat trick from Ella Brennan.

Ladies FAI Cup
Ferns United 9
Mooncoin Celtic 0
Leinster kingpins Ferns showed why they are a top top side with no mercy shown against our ladies squad.

U16 Girls League Mooncoin Celtic 3 Park Rangers 4

Today we had a home game against Park Rangers. We started brightly with our girls controlling the play for much of the first half. Unfortunately a break against the run of play broke the deadlock and the visitors were in front.
Second half Park Rangers doubled their lead before Ella Brennan pulled a goal back for us. A couple of minutes later Miss Brennan had the game level. Park Rangers stuck a third and a fourth before Ella completed her hat trick. Our girls pushed on for a deserved equaliser but unfortunately the clock beat us today.
The girls left everything out on the pitch and the least they deserved was a draw but it wasn’t to be. We are very grateful to Hannah Dobbyn who stepped up for us today in the absence of Sadhbh. Hannah you played a blinder as did all girls that took to the field today

Weekend Round Up

Mooncoin Celtic 0
Our young side went toe to toe with Villa on the astro on Saturday and gave a very good account of themselves making Villa work for the three points until the very last minute.

U11D League
Mooncoin Celtic 1
Hibs 4
A Liam MC goal put the boys 1 up against a strong Hibs side and this was a much improved performance for this group with plenty games to come in the coming weeks.

U11E League
Mooncoin Celtic 3
Kilmacow 0
The lads got back to winning ways in a windy suir crescent on Saturday morning.
Corey opened the scoring with a tidy finish from a great corner from Charlie. Some good work from Edmund slipped in captain for the day Jim who finished smartly to put us two up. Kilmacow started the second half much better than us with Corey and Cormac saving us on a couple occasions. Late in to the second half Kieran ran on to a powerful goal kick from Cormac and buried it past the keeper for our 3rd. A great performance all round in tricky conditions with Corey man of the match for heroics at both end.

U11G League
Mooncoin Celtic 3
Kilmac 6
Goals from Harry and two from Kieran had the youngest group 3-2 up at half time. Tired legs and a bigger Kilmac side getting on top saw the tables turned in the second half.

U13C League
Mooncoin Celtic 1
Tramore 4
League leaders came to Suir Crescent and showed why they are the ones to catch in this league. Aaron D with the goal for us but Tramore ran out comfortable winners.

U15C League
Ballinroad 8
Mooncoin Celtic 2
We were 2-0 down within 15 mins. Ben pulled one back just before half time. Ballinroad scored straight from the kickoff in the second half adding 2 more before Charlie was taken down halfway through the 2nd half and Cathal scored the penalty. We had missed a few chances where ballinroad took their chances.
Good game despite the result. Charlie M and Dylan Mc were outstanding today.

Ladies Munster Junior Cup
Cahir Park 1
Mooncoin Celtic 6
A strong display from our senior girls who showed no mercy on a young Cahir team with hat tricks from Emily Blackmore and Becky Derwin sending the ladies through to the next round.

U12 Girls Result
Mooncoin Celtic 2
Park Rangers 4
Our U12 girls had a right old battle with Park Rangers on a sticky pitch on Sunday morning. Goals from Caitlín Pryor and Aoibhe Vereker were not enough on the day to get the three points.

1B League
Park Rangers 5
Mooncoin Celtic 1
A disastrous start with the concession of two early goals set us back but we slowly got in to the game with plenty chances coming our way. We pulled a goal back through Kieran Fagan on the stroke of half time and rejigged formation at the break to try get on top. Plenty chances again were created but no finished product. Park Rangers capitalised on a lapse in concentration to put a two goal cushion between the teams and two late goals put a gloss on the scoreline. The display of young Tadhg Derwin on goal was the only positive we can take from it.

U16 Girls Result
Dungarvan United 1
Mooncoin Celtic 4
A cracking away win for this squad with goals from Molly Q, Molly M, Ella B and Aoibhe R saw three points secured.

U16 league result Dungarvan 1 Mooncoin Celtic 4

Our girls took to the road today for the trip to Dungarvan. An early 11am kick off, and it was Mooncoin who were awake first. On 2 minutes the deadlock was broken when Mollie Murphy slotted home from a corner. On 15 minutes another Molly, Molly Quinn doubled our lead. Our girls were in control of the game from the very start. Ella Brennan made it 3 nil on 35 minutes when she managed to keep her shot low and into the net. On the hour mark Aoibhe Rees put her mark on the game when she made it 4. Dungarvan got a consolation goal shortly after but the result was never in doubt. All 17 girls that travelled got good game time and all played they’re part. Great team performance.
Let’s keep it going girls.

WSFL Under 16c Result
Piltown 1 vs Mooncoin Celtic 3

A hugely entertaining game against neighbors Piltown with little or nothing between the two sides. Both sides made loads of chances that should have been put away but it was one of those days. Piltown started to dictate the run of the game after 20 mins but against the run of play. Liam Mackey gave a beautiful thru ball to Marcos to leave him 1 on 1 with the keeper. After a great attempted save Marcos Bometon found the corner of the net. Again Piltown stepped it up and equalised before half time deservedly. After the break we started to find more space in behind the defenders and we started created some chances. Lots of which we should have converted. Fortunately we did take the lead with Liam Mackey putting us 2-1 up. Piltown didn’t give and kept coming at us but we were after finding a bit of an edge upfront. Emmett Cusack had a few chances but was clear on goal and taken down in the box. Liam Mackey converted the penalty to put us 3-1 up. Both teams finished off the game with more chances to score but we held out for the 3 points with the game being steadied by our three subs. Great team performance all round but and a few stand out ones in Micheal Murphy, Ben Buckley, Josh McLaughlin, Cian O’Leary and a safe pair of hands in goal Emily Blackmore. Man of the Match must go to Liam Mackey.. All credit to the team. Emily Blackmore, Cian O’Leary, Cormac Fenton, Gavin Coady, Ben Buckley, Josh McLaughlin, Lucas Delahunty, Micheal Murphy, Liam Mackey, Marcos Bometon, Emmett Cusack. Subs who came one were Ben Dawson, Adam Corcoran, Eoghan Drennan. Huge praise for a very good Piltown team and best of luck for the rest of the season.

U14B League Ballinroad 2 Mooncoin Celtic 3

Our u14girls traveled to Ballinroad today hoping to keep their unbeaten run intact. It was a very close game and we weren’t at our best. Siobhan scored the first     with a great strike. Ballinroad equalised close to half time after the ball fell kindly from a free kick. Lexi put away a penalty on the stroke of half time, when Siobhan was taken down in the box after a great run at the Ballinroad defence. Second half saw both teams create chances and our opposition got the equaliser. Sophie Phelan was determined for Mooncoin to take all three points, and scored a fantastic individual goal. Final score 2-3 to Mooncoin.

U14B League Result Tramore 0 Mooncoin Celtic 5

A cold breezy evening in Tramore saw a first outing for a few weeks for this determined group. The first half saw Lexi get our first goal, which was quickly followed with our second by Sophie with Briona finishing off the half with our third. Second half saw two more goals through Ciara and an og came from a Briona corner. Credit to both teams on a cold evening and Tramore for battling away throughout and hit the woodwork twice themselves. Good three points on the road.
