Our u10 Girls visited Villa and Carrick on Sunday morning last and put in brilliant performances to show progress is steadily being made with these two squads.
Goals aplenty in Villa with Saoirse Dunphy, Leah Twomey and Lexi Walsh among the goals. The game in Carrick was a tight affair with the girls a little unlucky not to have been closer to a bigger Carrick side.
Winners of the monthly draw:
1st prize Breda Carberry
2nd prize Frank Meade
3rd prize Ian O’Keeffe
Winner of Two tickets for Ireland v Denmark: Alan Treacy
Unfortunately we won’t be in a position to be recording our 300 Club draw live tonight, keep an eye on the page for the video though. To be posted shortly. Apologies to all.
Youth B side Ballinroad arrived in Ashgrove to face our young charges. Depleted for one reason or another, this young squad can be proud of their display against a bigger physical side.
A missed penalty after two minutes by Evan Cleary could have sent this game in a total different direction with the lads sticking to the game plan throughout the first half to a tee but two sloppy mistakes had Ballinroad 2 up at half time.
Another two costly mistakes in the second half undone the boys who had a second penalty saved, Ryan Carroll the guilty party this time. Another couple of chances were passed up aswell.
Good displays throughout the side with Ryan O’Grady and Luke Ramasamwy doing well at full back, Jay Langford was his usual excellent self but Man of the match was young Adrian Daly who covered every blade of grass, his reading of the game was a pleasure to witness.
Good experience gained by all.
A day to forget for this squad. Credit to the 4th division lads who helped out and to Scoby for looking after them this morning.
Please, if you can, come out support the mumogie charity match later this evening.
For those in our 300 Club Syndicate, the first monthly draw of the new year will be on this coming bank holiday Sunday night in Comefords Bar at 8:30 p.m. On the night there will be an extra draw for our 300 members for 2 tickets to the Ireland v Denmark game, kindly donated by Michael Blanchfield of Centra. Thank you to our members for their continued support! Hope to see you Sunday night.
We travelled to waterford crystal last Saturday in search of our first league points. We dominated the first half with Finbar Purcell putting us in front after some great link up play with Robbie Doherty on the left. Second half followed the same pattern and when Finbarr released Jamie Crokehe made no mistake to put us 2 up . Crystal came at us after that and 2 lucky goals turned 3 points into 1 very quickly. Regardless of points dropped, upward curve continuing for this bunch . Some great performances on the day, with Man of the match Finbarr Purcell.
A first half of missed chance after missed chance after missed chance, with Ian and Neville Synnott and Mick Dwyer all guilty of misses. Dunmore capitalised on this and they went down and scored with the only chance they had in first half.
Second half had only just started when Ian Synnott levelled with a header from a Shane Twomeys cross. A few fine saves from the returning Andrew Chucky Norris helped keep Mooncoin in the game and then Tommy Nolan put us 2-1 up with a good finish after good work from Ian Synnott. Dunmore then equalised after we were caught ball watching. We spurned another 3 chances when it was easier to score with Gerry Walsh, Ian Synnott and Shane Twomey all guilty. We’ll take a point from a tricky venue. Man of the match was Shane Twomey who bombed up and down the wing all morning.
