U12B Boys Cup: Mooncoin Celtic 0 3 Piltown

Our u12A team played a hard fought cup derby with Piltown today in the midday heat.

They were desperately unlucky with the first goal conceded after 15 minutes, a clearance which rebounded off the Piltown forward who knew little about it.

Luck was against us again as Jason was hacked down not once but twice while sprinting clear. Chances were few and far between with Billy and later Sean having good strikes on goal saved.

Piltown scored two more goals as the lads pushed for one of their own. A disappointing end to a hard season in which they deserved far more than they got. They will come back next season the stronger for it no doubt.

U11A Boys League: Mooncoin Celtic 3 – 0 Villa

A fast start from the boys this evening saw them race in to a two goal lead thanks to great finishes from Ryan Sutton and Will Doherty.

They possibly could have been further ahead only for a tight offside call denied Billy O’Keeffe.

Second half onslaught from Villa was expected but Jack Twomey and Tyler Kelly marshalled the defence through out and John Mackey sealed the three points after great work by Cian O’Donoghue. Excellent performance and their 10th clean sheet of the season.

U11F Boys League: Villa 3 – 1 Mooncoin Celtic

Oisín was captain today and was man of the match for Mooncoin. A mix up in defence led to Villa’s first and handball in the build-up was conveniently missed for their second.

Mooncoin rallied and Donncha was desperately unlucky when through on goal with his shot landing the wrong side of the goal-line via the crossbar.

Shane was hacked down in the box soon after and should feel aggrieved not to have won a pen. Second half Villa scored their third with a cracker well out of our keeper’s reach. Mooncoin pressed on and were unlucky not to have another pen with Billy fouled from behind this time round. His free kick moments later was volleyed sweetly by Rueben only just wide.

Liam F snuck in at the back post later on for a well taken goal and his second of the season. 3-1 to the home team but the lads gave a great account of themselves this evening.
