U15A Mooncoin 3 Kilmacthomas 0

A great result for our Under 15A squad today in their first league match. A well rounded performance from all the squad. With the 3 goals coming from Rizgar, Rudy and Liam. Man of the match going to Rizgar. Well done to all the team and to the managers, Stephen, Victor and Richie. A big thanks also to Martin Haley of Haley Car Sales for sponsoring this seasons new kit. The sqaud looked sharp! #mcfc #honthecoin

U13 result: Mooncoin Celtic 1 Kilmacthomas 3

The u13s took to the field this evening for their opening game of the season and were very unlucky not to get the points.

The team played brilliantly in the first 20 minutes and were rewarded with a goal credited to Daniel after a deflection with some great play in the build up from back to front.

Just before half time however the sides were level after a half cleared corner fell to a kilmac man outside the box who’s shot was well saved by Jake but the striker reacted quickest to tap it home

1-1 half time

The second half started well but an injury to Steven Brennan ten minutes in changed the momentum of the game and kilmac got the lucky break when a mix up at the back left them 2 on 1 with the keeper in one of the easiest offside decisions a referee will ever have to make but waved play on and kilmac duly obliged to make it 2-1.

Good chances came and went for mooncoin who on another night could have scored 2 or 3 goals but it wasn’t to be and with 5 minutes left kilmac sealed the game with a 3rd goal.

A great performance by the lads and the score line really doesn’t tell the story.
Good days ahead for this bunch very soon.

2A result (last week) Piltown 4 mooncoin 1

A very disappointing result in the local derby last week . We never came out of the blocks at all and couldn’t match piltowns intensity . We went 1 down after 15min after some poor defending , 10mins later we gave away a silly penalty an Piltown put it away .

We conceded a free kick not long after , and to be fair it no keeper would have stopped it . Nearly end of first half Kavanagh had a couple of good chances but we couldn’t convert .

The second half began where the first had finished , and after not closing down the midfielder Piltown slid a simple through ball to striker and we were 4 down . We still tryed to make a go of it but to make matters worse , 10 mins into 2nd half , half time sub robbie walsh saw a straight red after a tussle in Piltown box .

Piltown who had worked very hard started to get tired , we pulled a goal back through Johnny Kavanagh , and had a few chances near the end , Kavanagh hitting the post and Ben keating had a great strike saved .

All in all , a bad night and one we need to move on from quickly , next game Sunday at home to villa.

4th division result: Mooncoin Celtic 0 Park Rangers 0

A scoreless draw to open their league campaign today against a tricky Park Rangers side who had a few chances themselves. Mark Walsh, who played his first game with the club in 24 years, went close in the first half followed by Scoby clipping the bar.

Barry Hearne pulled off two good saves to keep the teams level. The second half was something similar with half chances going to both sides. Mick Dwyer went closest for ourselves with Barry again standing up to the couple of chances Park Rangers had. A point was probably the fairest result on a very warn morning.

After the game, as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations, Kevin Kennedy was presented with an appreciation award for his work with the club both on and the off the field over the last 20 years. Well deserved award.

YOUTHS RESULT TRAMORE RANGERS 1 MOONCOIN 2

We Played very well and dominated most of match created loads of chances finishing left us down at times though . We went ahead through a pen from Dylan Harrington after 15 mins.

Dylan scored again with great strike from 35 yards…unfortunately we gave away silly pen after half hour which daragh saved his 2nd pen save in as many games so 2-0 @ halftime .

Second half was littered with missed chances by ourselves …daragh made unreal save to keep at 2-0 …Dylan unlucky for hatrick with unreal effort from 40 yards which hit angle of post n cross bar … we gave up soft goal in injury time but result was never in doubt .
Very good performance overall from back to front but need to take pressure off by taking chances in coming games . Well done to whole squad and management .

U12 result: Mooncoin Celtic 1 Tramore C 2

A disappointing result but a decent performance by this young squad. Scoreless at half time they started the second half stronger and took the lead through a Robbie Doherty finish but back came Tramore who peppered Paddy T’s goal and nicked an equalizer before snatching the three points when a horrible spin on the ball wrong footed Paddy T Murphy on goal.

Coaches will be happy as it was the first outing and a lot learned by both players and management.

U14 Result: Park Rangers B 0 vs Mooncoin Celtic 6

WSFL Under 14D league

Park Rangers B 0 vs Mooncoin Celtic 6

Great start to the season in a very sunny Faithlegg with a noon Kick off today. Park Rangers started very strong and looked like they were going to punish us today. However a solid performance from Alex Bailey, Liam Hogan, Mikey Cronin & Ciara O’Keeffe kept out all the attacks in the first 10 mins.

We settled down and found our stride. Denis Kinsella was making a breakthrough down the left and was very unlucky not to score from a screamer of an effort. Eoin O’Callaghan was solid in the Centre of midfield and both covered every blade of grass.

New signing Daniel Roberts was very effective on the right wing both he and Brian Dunphy were making life difficult for the home side. We opened the scoring through that combination with a very well worked goal by Sam Hartwell.

Brian Dunphy added a real blow just minutes before half time to bring us in at half time 2-0 up.. After a few positional changes at half time we came out a totally different animal and gave Park Rangers little hope in the second half. Tom Conway moved to the left wing and Conor Dermody to Centre midfield.

Great play by both left Conor Dermody open to thread a sublime 60 yard pass to the toe of Brian Dunphy who stormed through to make it 3-0.. moments later Tom Conway played another long ball in the path of Sam Hartwell and Sam made it 4-0. Sam had switched to the right wing at half time and put in a second half performance that he can be really proud of and gave Park Rangers a roasting for a solid half hour and deservedly winning man of the match… we kept knocking on the door and Lee Freyne gave Tom Conway a great ball and Tom put it away to make it 5-0.

Lee Freyne opened up the defence moments later with a great goal to make it 6-0… Jake Moore was his usual self in goal and played a blinder.

The mooncoin defence didn’t put one foot wrong in the second half. Aaron Fewer and Matthew Morahan came in late in the game and played very well and Matthew was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet.. great to see loads of support from Mooncoin today.

Well done everyone!!!!
