Youths Result Mooncoin 0 Johnville 1

Tough day at the office today when we came up against a good johnville side .first half saw very few chances created with both teams working hard throughout the pitch to close their opponents down .The only goal of the match came after the half hour mark when a lapse in concentration allowed a johnville striker in to take his chance .
Second half saw an improved performance on our part ,with the game opening up a bit more …
We seemed to be getting on top in midfield and created a few good chances and forced several corners to keep johnville pinned back in their own half for long periods.
Unfortunately the luck in the box wasn’t with us today despite a good honest performance from all involved .

U15c result: Mooncoin Celtic 3 St Paul’s 2

A flattering scoreline with the lads dominating throughout against a decent Paul’s team. A thunderbolt in the first half from Rudi looked like it crossed the line after rattling the crossbar but it wasn’t given. Scoreless at halftime but the lads upped the gears with three quick goals from Rizgar, Rudi and Kieran put daylight between them and Paul’s before two goals led to a nervous finish. Three wins from three has these lads primed for a league charge. Good squad performance with Luke again being man of the match but only just with Liam Quinn solid throughout.

U13 result: Villa 2 Mooncoin Celtic 1

A sluggish start saw the lads 2 down early on with Villa’s left winger running them ragged. The second half was a different story with Mikey Cronin pulling a goal back but unfortunately they couldn’t get an equalizer. Four tight games to date in this league for Derek’s squad with little between all sides.

Inter provincial blitz between Munster u12 girls

An inter provincial blitz between Munster u12 girls and Leinster u12 girls took place this evening in the WIT complex in Carriganore. Munster won the first game 1-0 and the second game starring one Emily Blackmore was an onslaught with Emily bagging goal number two in a comprehensive 5-1 win for Munster. Unbelievable experience for all the girls playing in this blitz, massive well done to the organisers. Well done Emily.

U13 result: Mooncoin Celtic 2 – Tramore 1

This team was determined going into this evenings game to be coming away with the 3 points come the final whistle and that they did.

A first half which was dominated by Mooncoin saw Jason Ryan, Daniel Roberts & Mikey Cronin all go close to breaking the deadlock in the first half. Eoin O’Callaghan and Stephen Brennan partnered up well down the left side and caused the Tramore defence a lot of problems with their pace, passing and pressing down if the ball. While the defence of Jake Moore, Mike O’Keefe, Ciara O’Keefe, Patrick Dermody and Mikey Cronin held strong keeping Tramore to very little chances created. 0-0 at half time.

Second half started strong again and a quality first time cross from Matthew Walsh saw the ball go over the centre backs head and fall to Jason Ryan who buried the ball into the net leaving the keeper with no chance of stopping it.

We kept attacking and it paid off as a scramble in the box saw the ball fall to Emily Blackmore at the back post who stayed calm to make sure she got the ball under control before taping it into an empty net. 2-0 Mooncoin.

We kept strong defensively and held Tramore only for a shot from far out saw the ball take an awful bounce in front of Jake Moore and go over his head to no fault of his own. Player of the game tonight was Jason Ryan who was unlucky not to come away with more than the 1 goal.

Up next for this team is Villa away this coming Saturday with a 3pm kick off.

A big squad was present for tonights game and apologies to all players who got little or no game time.
