U12 Result: Seaview Celtic 2 Mooncoin Celtic 0

We travelled to an even windier than usual annestown to play title chasing seaview. Conditions were terrible with a swirling wind that made it very difficult for both sides. We had the better of the opening stages with Ben and Anil running the wings. We went behind against the run of play but battled back into the game. Jamie ran at their defence and nearly levelled but the keeper aided by the wind kept him out. Just as we were getting on top the wind caught a cross and beat Paddy. 2.0 down at the break. The 2nd half went same as the first we had majority of the play but just couldnt get the better of the conditions. Daragh made a few good runs and had a good effort well saved. Great performance by all 17 players who played their hearts out and they deserved something from this game. Man of the match Sean Kearns . Next up Kilmacow away.

U13 result Bohs B 0 Mooncoin Celtic 4

A Thursday evening trip to Poleberry threw up an opportunity to get momentum going before the cup starts next week but Bohs put it up to them for the hour. Mikey Cronin continued his good form with a brace, Emily Blackmore celebrated her inclusion in the u13 Waterford Girls Gaynor Cup squad with a super finish and the ever reliable Mike O’Keeffe finished off the scoring. This talented squad kick off their cup campaign away to Tramore next week.

U14 girls Result: Mooncoin Celtic 2 Ballyduff 2

Our U14 Girls team took to the field this evening to take on Ballyduff .
Missing a few players and also missing Master Tacticians Miguel and Padraig ,
Sheila Goulding and Catherine Blackmore and a panel of 12 determined young ladies took to the pitch in search of their first points of the season .
Mooncoin started the game very well and pressed forward at every opportunity with Kayleigh Smith and Eve Dunphy putting the Ballyduff defenders to the test . Eimear Quinn and Ella Brennan fought hard in the middle of the field for every ball sending balls down the wings . Our first goal came from a cleverly placed throw in from Ciara O Keeffe who found the Foot of Emily Blackmore who travelled diagonally with the ball making sure to position herself to slot the ball to the back of the net . 1 Nil Mooncoin . The game was frantic for the next ten minutes with Mooncoin trying to take a hold of the game . Katie Tolan , Ella Bailey , Ellie Corcoran and Sophie Scahill defended and shut down every ball that came their way . Which seemed to be working well, until a Ballyduff player broke onto a through ball and made no mistake putting it to the net . 1 All . Mia Ponce De Leon pulled off some fantastic saves between the sticks this evening. Half time came with the teams in deadlock . It was all still there to be played for . A quick drink and some words of encouragement on the sidelines the girls headed back in for the second half . Georgia Grant replaces Kayleigh Smith in the middle of the field , and made her presence known . There was chances to be had on both sides in the second half with the keepers on both teams coming to the rescue on more than one occasion . Midway through the second half Ella Brennan passed the ball to Ciara O Keeffe who got her foot under it and sent the ball up the field . Emily Blackmore happened upon the ball beating 2 defenders before looking up to see the Ballyduff keeper coming off her line . Emily took another two steps before chipping the ball over the head of the keeper and to the back of the net, 2-1 Mooncoin . Tiredness by this stage was creeping in , but the girls kept plugging away and encouraging each other doing the very best they could . Ballyduff played a lovely ball down the line and a great cross in from the sideline was finished to the goal only narrowly beating Mia. 2 All . Eve Dunphy came close to grabbing the winner this evening and was a constant thorn in the side of Ballyduff defence . The last ten mins saw both teams scramble to get the win and take all three points , but a draw was the outcome . Our girls never gave up this evening , their heads never dropped and their steely determination saw them get the point that they so desperately wanted and without a doubt deserved . Great result and performance by all.

LMS Update

Well well well! Burnley’s heroics tonight have dumped another 9 out of the competition and leaves 10 standing with three rounds of fixtures left.

U15 Result: Mooncoin Celtic 5 Bohs B 1

A sluggish start from the lads had the watching crowd worried with a good Bohs side dominating the early exchanges and they deservedly took the lead with a good strike from distance. Nathan Long also came to the rescue early on. A quick water break shook the lads into life and they got on top with Rudi burying an equalizer.
The second half started as the first finished with Mooncoin dominance and goals from Kieran Fagan (2) , Liam Quinn and Lee Freyne putting a gloss on the scoreline. This puts the lads 3 points clear at the top but with 2 games more played but the pressure will be on the chasing clubs of Kilmacow and St Paul’s who still have to meet before the end of the season. A very exciting finish is on the cards. Man of the match today was the ever reliable Adrian Daly.

LMS Update

Arsenal put paid to another three participants today. 9 are relying on Chelsea tomorrow night against Burnley but the way this weekend has gone I wouldn’t count on Chelsea winning. 19 left standing at the moment which could be 10 by tomorrow night.
