Sunday:

An early start for Jamie Moore and his troops who have been busy with games in preseason in preparation for the league. A mix of youth and experience will look to gather 3 points and get going early.

Youths away to Abbeyside,
Kick off 2pm
This young group will be looking for another 3 points after impressing against Tramore on Monday last and put down a marker in this league.

Support for all our teams is welcome and fingers crossed they all start well.

Youths Result: Mooncoin Celtic 6 Tramore C 1

A devastating first 30 minutes saw the lads race into a 6 goal lead with Kieran Fagan 3 and Evan Cleary 2 adding to Rudi’s opener. Tramore kept trying to play regardless of the scoreline and pulled a goal back via the penalty spot.
A few changes at half time didn’t stop the flow of the game and an even second half yielded no more goals.
Good start, Paraic Murphy was man of the match followed closely by Adam Croke.

Season underway

The season officially gets under way this evening when our youths play host to Tramore in their first league game. A lot of faces returning to the club at this age group after a few years away and they’ll be backed up by our talented u16 players.
Kick off is 6.30 in Ashgrove and support for all our teams will be most welcome.

Last Man Standing competition

110 entries for our Last Man Standing competition which kicked off today. 11 fallers thanks to Newcastle and Aston Villa getting beaten. A few run the risk of getting knocked out tomorrow.
Big thanks to all who entered. Your support is very much appreciated.

Best of luck to James Aylward

The very best of luck to James Aylward and the Kilkenny Minor and Senior teams tomorrow in the All Ireland finals.
An unbelievable achievement for young James to captain the minors in their quest for glory.
Fingers crossed James will be delivering a speech from the Hogan Stand and bringing home the Irish Press Cup tomorrow evening.

Under 15 friendly: New Ross Town 3 vs Mooncoin Celtic 5

We travelled down to New Ross this morning for our first game of the season for an 11am kick off in glorious sunshine at the Good Councel college. A good test was given to us which was exactly what we were looking for. The game started at great pace and was end to end until we conceded a penalty in the first half. We equalised shortly after with a well taken goal from Sam Hartwell after a great ball from Stephen Foran. Stephen was unlucky moments later which an absolute thunderbolt from 30 yards hit the crossbar. Sam made it 2-0 nil shortly after from a great long ball from Tom Conway. But Ross Town equalised almost immediately to keep the game ticking. Sam made it 3-2 after a great pass from Adam Conway. Again the men in blue responded. We switched to a 3-5-2 system and it made the difference. Sean Lennon made a run from half way beating 5 or 6 defenders to score a great goal to put us 4-3 up and then another great goal from Sam made it 5-3. Mikey Cronin, Denis Kinsella and Ciara O’Keeffe had a great game in defence. Matthew Morahan has a great second half dropping back deep and leaving off some great passes. He was also very unlucky not to score. Our new Goalkeeper Jonah O’Toole looked the part and pulled off some fine saves throughout and gave a great performance on his debut. Man of the match Sam Hartwell for impressive pace and finishing with 4 goals. But a real stand out performance from Adam Conway on the right wing was great to see. Well done to everyone! Great test for the season ahead.

u13s travel to Portlaoise

Our u13s travel to Portlaoise tomorrow for the big preseason tournament with teams travelling from all over the country for it. They will be guaranteed 4 games and with a little luck hopefully they will get more and advance to the latter stages. Great experience to be gained for the coming season.
Best of luck tomorrow boys and enjoy.
