2A result Mooncoin 0 Villa 4

A second disappointing defeat in 2 games for the first team missing a lot of players .

The final scoreline didnt reflect the first half performance which was a half we dominated playing good football throughout , but couldn’t get the ball in the net .

We passed an pressed very well first 15 mins , but on 15mins a villa goal kick led to a through ball and o keeffe took down the striker which looked outside the box but penalty given an scored by villa .

We continued to dominate the rest of the half with Daniel synnott going closest to scoring . You would think after such a good half we would push on an get something but the opposite happened , with mouthing and petty arguments between players creeping in it was never goin to end well .

On 55mins villa striker beat our defence for pace an skid the ball to back post for 2 oncoming villa players 2-0. 15mins later we failed to clear the ball 3 times and villa buried the ball . And 5 mins later , villa striker ran through unchallenged to make it 4-0 .

A very bad result and things have to change quickly to get season back on track .

Team – derek tebay , chris Hanlon , ross o keeffe , wayne kelly , Jason Sauvage , Daniel synnott , Kieran o Brien , Ben keating , joey o Hanlon , Ian synnott , Johnny Kavanagh . SUBS (all used ) Seamus Kearns , kevin Knox , Niall McDonald .

Fixtures for tomorrow

2a home to Villa, kick off 11am.
After the disappointment of the poor defeat to Piltown, the lads will be looking to bounce back and grab 3 points. With only 12 games to play in the league things will be very tight among the 7 clubs.

4th division home to DLS, kick off 2pm
An early season top of the table clash in the 4b with early pace setters De la Salle coming to town. Dungarvan proved a stern test midweek for our older lads but with a big squad to call on they were able to call on the fresh legs when required.

Best of luck to both squads and again support for both is most welcome.

First shoots of grass

The first shoots of grass are up on the new ground only 7 days after sowing. Great to see a bit of green after the months of dust. Compliments must be paid to Declan Walsh and Sons who have the place looking incredible in such a short space of time.

WSFL Under 15D League Bohemians B 7 vs Mooncoin Celtic B 0

A very strong Bohs side took advantage of the inexperience of this new side early on in the game. We were 3-0 down before we got a hold on positions and it was always going to be hard to claw it back.. However there was a lot of positives to take from the game. The boys never gave up and enjoyed at least half of the possession and we created some great chances. We went in 5-0 at half time and that tells a lot about the second half performance… Matthew McEvoy pulled off a string of brilliant saves from the strong Bohs attack.. Very strong performances from Adam Conway and Daire O’Donoghue as well as Adam Scahill putting his strength into the equation. Denis Kinsella didn’t put a foot wrong all game and left nothing through on the left hand side. Killian Horan lead the attack when he switched to midfield with a very impressive Sean Drennan… Brian Dunphy and Shaun Langford fought and fought and created chances through the middle and didn’t give up all game. Tom Conway & Sam Hartwell on both wings both had solid performances and will upset a few defences throughout the season with their link up play. Aaron Fewer used his strength very well all game. Nothing to be ashamed of. A new team and already playing out of their skins for each other. Well done boys!

U15A Mooncoin 3 Kilmacthomas 0

A great result for our Under 15A squad today in their first league match. A well rounded performance from all the squad. With the 3 goals coming from Rizgar, Rudy and Liam. U13 result: Mooncoin Celtic 1 Kilmacthomas 3

The u13s took to the field this evening for their opening game of the season and were very unlucky not to get the points.

The team played brilliantly in the first 20 minutes and were rewarded with a goal credited to Daniel after a deflection with some great play in the build up from back to front.

Just before half time however the sides were level after a half cleared corner fell to a kilmac man outside the box who’s shot was well saved by Jake but the striker reacted quickest to tap it home

1-1 half time

The second half started well but an injury to Steven Brennan ten minutes in changed the momentum of the game and kilmac got the lucky break when a mix up at the back left them 2 on 1 with the keeper in one of the easiest offside decisions a referee will ever have to make but waved play on and kilmac duly obliged to make it 2-1.

Good chances came and went for mooncoin who on another night could have scored 2 or 3 goals but it wasn’t to be and with 5 minutes left kilmac sealed the game with a 3rd goal.

A great performance by the lads and the score line really doesn’t tell the story.
Good days ahead for this bunch very soon.

2A result (last week) Piltown 4 mooncoin 1

A very disappointing result in the local derby last week . We never came out of the blocks at all and couldn’t match piltowns intensity . We went 1 down after 15min after some poor defending , 10mins later we gave away a silly penalty an Piltown put it away .

We conceded a free kick not long after , and to be fair it no keeper would have stopped it . Nearly end of first half Kavanagh had a couple of good chances but we couldn’t convert .

The second half began where the first had finished , and after not closing down the midfielder Piltown slid a simple through ball to striker and we were 4 down . We still tryed to make a go of it but to make matters worse , 10 mins into 2nd half , half time sub robbie walsh saw a straight red after a tussle in Piltown box .

Piltown who had worked very hard started to get tired , we pulled a goal back through Johnny Kavanagh , and had a few chances near the end , Kavanagh hitting the post and Ben keating had a great strike saved .

All in all , a bad night and one we need to move on from quickly , next game Sunday at home to villa.
