Sanding, Sanding Sanding

The action never stops in Suir Crescent these days, today Garry Flood Landscapes was on site for the sanding and shockwaving of the pitches. This is vital maintenance work that will help maintain the playing surface to a very high standard every year.

This type of work along with other maintenance work would not be possible without your support through our 50-50 draw which is held every fortnight, so please keep supporting our Ladies Committee and purchase a 50-50 envelope in any local business or online.

More good funding news

Another bit of good news landed in the post today with Kilkenny County Council granting us €2000 under the Community Activities Fund Grant scheme. This money will be used to further enhance our new grounds with defibrillator, bike racks, signage and field maintenance equipment.

This good news follows on from our recent successful Sports Capital Grant application where we received just under €59000 so not a bad couple of weeks.

None of these grants would have been successful without the support of everyone involved in the supporting of all our fundraising ventures.

Mooncoin Celtic Schoolgirls and Schoolboys 50/50 draw

Our Ladies Committee are now launching a fortnightly fundraising draw which is called The Mooncoin Celtic Schoolgirls and Schoolboys 50/50 draw.

How the draw works is simple: Envelopes costing €2 each will be on sale locally in shops and other businesses.

Entry can also be bought online just click this link below

https://mooncoinceltic.com/mcfcs-50-50-split-the-pot/

The purchaser fills in their details on the envelope and puts the €2 in the envelope and pops the envelope into the box present in each business.

Every fortnight, a draw is held where 50% of the pot is won by one person and the other 50% goes to the fund for maintenance of our complex. All draws will be held live on Facebook.

The first draw will be on Sunday 6th February 2022 at 6pm and will be streamed live on Facebook from Suir Crescent.

Thank you in advance for your support. Regards, Mooncoin Celtic Ladies Committee.

Rabbits can hob off

We had a couple of intruders on Wednesday night and they also returned Thursday morning at our new ground in Suir Crescent and they done a great impression of a bunny rabbit by burrowing under the security fencing to gain entry. Thankfully no damage was done and nothing was taken. Our Cctv system done its job and picked up the culprits and the footage has been passed on to the powers that be.
We ask all within the locality to keep an eye out for any suspicious behaviour not just at our new ground in Suir Crescent but in and around all houses and premises in Mooncoin and ring the Gardai if they see anything out of the ordinary.

Return to play week 1

Week one of the return to training for our younger teams in our new ground in Suir Crescent is completed after a lovely sunny evening with 94 academy kids enjoying themselves over the 2 hourly sessions this evening . We would like to thank all that have dropped off kids or visited the ground this week for their cooperation and patience on entering and exiting and also their kind words of encouragement. A final thank you to the residents in Suir Crescent for putting up with us, this week saw a return of noise from kids playing and enjoying themselves for the first time in many many years and we hope this continues for many many more.

New dawn

What started out as a pipe dream 6 years ago has now become reality as we have turned Suir Crescent into a state of the art facility that our current crop of youngsters, both male and female will enjoy for years to come and also many generations after them. It took 2 years and many calls and emails through local councillor Patrick Dunphy, John Paul Phelan TD and the then Junior Housing Minister Paudie Coffey TD to secure our 30 year lease and from there it took enormous patience from the time John Crowley generously sprayed off the old property to main contractor Declan Walsh and Sons taking on the task of stopping and starting and eventually overseeing a brilliant project that all in Mooncoin can be very proud of. We have attached some photos from before the soccer club’s time…… to John Crowley getting ready to spray……to discovering the old drainage system if you can spot it…….. to a handsome Stephen Walsh preparing drains…. to where we were this evening in glorious sunshine with our u11 squad enjoying their return to training.

Exciting new chapter

Tomorrow evening will see a new exciting chapter begin for the club when the first of our underage teams will start using our new ground in Suir Crescent for training purposes. Over the next couple of weeks we will be getting used to our new surroundings around drop offs, parking and picking up in the new ground. We are asking all when entering Suir Crescent, please proceed at a reasonable speed and always respect the residence of Suir Crescent when entering and leaving the ground.
It has taken many years to get to this point with the ground now ready for use. All the people of Mooncoin are welcome to come up any evening this week to take a look for themselves to see what a wonderful facility has been developed for the next generation of kids to enjoy.
