U15 Cup Result: Mooncoin Celtic 3 Bohs B 2

An absolute thriller of a cup tie was played in breezy Ashgrove this evening with a semi final spot at stake.
A dream start by the lads through a Kieran Fagan goal after 5 minutes had them in coast mode but no Bohs side will lie down and the lads from Poleberry came back and equalized and then deservedly took a 2-1 lead going in at half time.
With their season on a knife edge, stern words at half time riled the lads up but Bohs set out their stall to hold on to the lead and the boys could only muster half chances one after another. With 10 minutes remaining, disaster struck with Bohs being awarded a penalty for a handball but the gods were looking down on us this evening when the penalty whistled wide.
Back came the boys and with everything being thrown at a resolute Bohs defence it didn’t look good. One minute into injury time an absolute cracker from Kyle Kennedy from all of 30 yards drew the sides level and most likely extra time would be required but in the 4th minute of injury Ryan O’Grady with another cracker from 20 odd yards broke Bohs hearts and sent the watching crowd and bench wild with delight. Heart stopping stuff but a great advertisement for Schoolboys football. Men of the Match must go to the injury time goalscorers, Ryan and Kyle.
A semi final awaits against newly crowned league champions St Paul’s in a couple of weeks once the junior cert exams are finished.

WSFL Under 14C league Bohs B 3 vs Mooncoin Celtic 1

Disappointed not to come away with something from the game the team held Bohs up to 5 mins before half time. When Bohs were awarded with Penalty which was the result of a good tackle. Bohs has struck the inside of the goals backpost just before which wasn’t allowed. So justice given in the penalty. We fought hard and tried to claw our way back but Bohs got a second early in the second half when the ball was kicked out of the goalkeepers hands. We were then denied a penalty for a shocking challenge on Sam Hartwell. Not to take away from a strong Bohs side who are on course to win the league and we wish them well. We got a booking for frustration which kinda sums it all up. Not to reflect on negativity let’s look at the positives. Adam Conway has a great game in goal and is getting stronger by the game. Tom Conway and Mikey Cronin are really enjoying the Centre back roles backed up by Denis Kinsella and Ciara O’Keeffe at full back who are really on form. Conor Dermody and Sean Lennon on the wings played a great game as did Alex Bailey and Liam Hogan in midfield. Lee Freyne is really after finding his position and the link up with Sam Hartwell is great. Daniel Roberts and Matthew Morahan got on and got stuck in which helped to us getting a penalty which was converted by Lee… the team is really improving by week and the future is good for them… all eyes on the first round of the cup next week… well done all the management team are super proud of you all..

u10 girls play Piltown

Our u10 girls travelled to a sunny Kildalton Park this morning for a derby duel with Piltown and 4 exciting games were played out with games very tight as little was given by each club. Highlights for ourselves was the penalty save by Aoibheann O’Donnell and the excellent goal by Aishling Rohan. All girls gave an excellent account of themselves in all games.
