After a week off from training the lads couldn’t wait to take to the pitch today. We welcomed Will Cuddihy back after his recent injury and he slotted straight into left back. We started the game well with some nice passing and link up play between the midfield and defence. As always the defence was solid out and kept Ferrybank to very little chances during the first half. Some great play by the attacking trio of Ben O’Hanlon Eoin O’Callaghan and Mike O’Keefe seen us create some decent chances in the first half and around half way thru the first half some great play from the 3 lads seen Mike O’Keefe take the ball down on the edge of the box and slot it into the far bottom left corner. The goal brought complete confidence to every player in the squad and even had Thomas O’Brien turn to me during the game and say “it was like we were watching Barcelona play” We started the second half like the first in complete control of the game and some good efforts from Captain for the day Ben O’Hanlon seen some decent saves from the Ferrybank keeper. It’s was only time until we got the second goal and with not long left on the clock the ever present Eoin O’Callaghan put the ball in the net to make it 2-0. Some great defending seen us keep a second clean sheet in a row. The delight of this win could be heard from the home dressing room after the game with the whole squad singing their hearts out. There will be no man of the match this weekend as all 12 players put in as much effort as each other. Roll on next Saturday as we take on Stradbally at home full of confidence.
