The lads created numerous chances to win this match, but im afraid it wasn’t to be as del a salle took the lead with their only shot in the half hitting one from 40 yards of the underside of crossbar, giving darragh no chance ,we went in one down ,should have been 4 up ,same story in the second half before beano made it 1 all with a good finish we also hit the post twice, spew was unlucky with a free kick that hit the crossbar in the last minute ,if we keep playing like this we have a great chance of honours, man of the match Jonathan power gave a towering performance in midfield closely followed by beano who never gave up and got his reward, onwards and upwards boys

WSFL under 15c League Tramore 2 vs Mooncoin Celtic 3
Great game today in a cold Tramore. We started the much stronger and pressed Tramore at every opportunity. Some really impressive performances all over the pitch. Adam Conway & Alex Bailey on the right and Sean Lennon & Diego Blanco Ibanez on the left caused serious trouble for the Tramore defence. Firstly a thru ball from Diego setting up Sean for a cracking opener. Hard work and never give attitude from Adam and Alex eventually seen Adam nip it over the line. Sam Hartwell causing all kinds of problems pressing every ball. Dylan Conway was part of everything in defensive midfield. The line was held well with the solid pairing of Tom Conway & Conor Dermody and Denis Kinsella on the left and Ciara O’Keeffe on the right kept Tramore completely out in the first half. Jonah O’Toole had a great game in goal. Mikey Cronin added strength in the second half. Matthew Morahan got on and was unlucky on two occasions but gave a beautiful pass to an impressive Stephen Foran who was unlucky not to score. Sam got the third goal that carried us over the line before a late effort from Tramore scoring two goals near the end. Their goalkeeper was very busy and kept the scoreline way down. Well done everyone!

Youth’s Result: Waterford Crystal 4 Mooncoin 1
With Nathan Long laid up injured, Paraic Murphy started in goal for 1st half and unfortunately gave away a peno after he charged out from the goal and made a challenge with both feet. Crystal caught us just on half time for 2-0.
Adam Croke started in goal for the 2nd half and there’s not much he could have done about the next 2 goals conceded. With 15 minutes left Evan Cleary pulled 1 back and Donnacha Hogan then had 1 disallowed for “offside “. The lads played well throughout but injuries, with several lads missing & also 4 of the boys after playing hurling this morning it certainly doesn’t help. Jack Conway was man of the match in this one.
U10 Pink and Purple Girls
U10 Pink and Purple Girls played games yesterday against Dungarvan and Carrick respectively and put in great performances. The Pinks in Dungarvan played out an entertaining game in cold conditions while the Purple Squad shared a glut of goals against Carrick.
U14 Result: Kilmacow 4 Mooncoin Celtic 0
A tough battle against near neighbours Kilmacow saw a tough day at the office and Kilmacow deservedly took the three points. The lads have stepped up a division and to date have been doing well against tough opponents.
U12D Result: Mooncoin Celtic B 1 Tramore C 7
Top of the table Tramore came to town and blitzed this young squad with a brilliant display. A day to forget.
U16 Result Mooncoin Celtic 1 Waterford Crystal 3
A disappointing result here with little between the sides. Some wasteful finishing did not help matters and the lads will be eager to put this one behind them. Kieran Fagan notched the goal in this one.
U14 Girls Result Carrick Utd 4 Mooncoin Celtic 0
From the start Mooncoin pressed Carrick hard and had the first shot on target after 2 minutes. This was the first of 12 shots on target by Mooncoin in the first half. Emily, Ella Brennan and Kayleigh were very unlucky not to get on the scoresheet.
Carrick scored after a long run by their outstanding no. 10, Lily. A second goal came Carrick’s way after 12 minutes from a shot outside the box that was fortunate to go in. Mooncoin then took charge of the rest of the half and were unluckyto go in at half-time 2-0 down.
Player of the Match goes to Mia Ponce de Leon who had an outstanding game in goal. She saved high balls, low balls and her specialty, diving at forwards’ feet. Mia’s has worked hard to improve aspects of her game such as her kickouts which today repeatedly took the pressure off the back four.
Carrick scored two further goals in the second half but the story of this game is the progress that the Mooncoin girls have made in the past year. Many are still learning the game and many are still u12 but if they keep putting in the hard work then results will come.
A special mention must go to our Coach Sarah Corcoran who drove back almost 2 hours from a weekend away to watch her Mooncoin team.
