Good evening All, Tomorrow one of Mooncoin Celtic’s underage coaches Patrick Dobbyn is part of a twelve person group taking part in a 500km cycle (8 cyclists ,4 support drivers ) to raise funds for “The Haven Hub Waterford” . This is a charity based in Waterford and the Mid West that helps with mental health awareness and suicide prevention supports. U14 Cup Semi final Result Piltown 1 Mooncoin Celtic 2 (AET) High drama in piltown last Friday evening when it took a last gasp winner direct from a corner by Kevin to separate the sides. Fionn had scored in normal time but Piltown were full value for forcing the game to extra time. Cup final to come against Villa.
U11D Cup Quarter final Mooncoin Celtic 0 Bohs 0 Mooncoin Celtic won 3-2 on penalties. Red hot weather and a red hot game last Saturday morning where it was nail biting stuff from start to finish. Dreaded penalties were required where thankfully we progressed to take on Ferrybank in the semi final.
U13B Result Mooncoin Celtic 3 Tramore 2 An almighty fright for this title chasing team against a determined Tramore side. Goals from Tyler with two and Dionos secured the points in the baking Sun.
U15 Cup Result Mooncoin Celtic 2 Park Rangers 4 A very disappointing first half saw the boys three down at half time but the hurt was evident with how they hit back and possibly could have pushed Park Rangers closer with plenty chances created throughout. Robbie and Naoise scored on the day.
U12 Boys Abbeyside 3 Mooncoin Celtic 5 A sunny trip on Monday evening saw the lads extend their unbeaten run to 19 games but will rely on others to stop Tramore winning the league. Super effort all season by all the group. Scorers on Monday were Tom m 2 , Dionos 1, Tom r 1, Ted 1.
U11 Girls Blitz Our young girls hosted Portlaw, Kilmac and Tramore in hot conditions last Sunday morning and great football was played by all involved.
Ladies Munster Shield Result Dromore 0 Mooncoin Celtic 1 An Emily Blackmore goal was the difference to send the ladies through to the semi final of this competition. Plenty chances throughout but only one goal which was enough thankfully. Massive thank you to Giulio’s Takeaway and HR Delahunty Solicitors for their sponsorship towards the transport costs to Cork and Limerick recently for our u17 girls and ladies team.
U16B Girls Result Southend 2 Mooncoin Celtic 3 Another good win for this bunch of girls with Rebecca taking home the match ball with a hat trick but overall the team were fantastic to pick up the three points.
1B League Result Kilmacow 1 Mooncoin Celtic 2 A tense derby in damp conditions was played out with plenty chances for both sides. Eric Conway done the business by stopping a penalty in the first half but couldn’t stop kilmacow taking the lead shortly after half time. A little reshuffle and tweak and Jamie Grace rose highest to nod home a long throw in that was flicked on. With ten minutes to go, another long throw was flicked on and this time Tadhg Derwin smashed home what proved to be the winner. Southend are next up for the boys as they continue to improve.
3B League Result Ferrybank 1 Mooncoin Celtic 4 A first win for Johnny McGrath’s charges with goals from Tommy Lennon, Adam Cunningham, Lee Freyne and Chris O’Hanlon and a very good squad performance. Piltown are visitors next Wednesday evening in what promises to be a tough game.

Mooncoin Celtic 1 Kilmac 0 A goal from Tom M separated these two sides with very little between them on the night
Mooncoin Celtic 4 Villa 0 A convincing win at home with goals from Ted (2) , Shane and Tom M again on the score sheet to secure three points. 18 games unbeaten and sitting second to Tramore with two games to go.
U11D Cup Result Kilmacow 0 Mooncoin Celtic 3 A derby cup match resulted in a great squad performance with goals from oodhran,John Joe and Tadhg seeing the boys through to face Bohs.
U12 Girls Cup Final Ballyduff 1 Mooncoin Celtic 0 A tense tight game was won by a bigger Ballyduff side which left our girls heartbroken but they can be very proud of the performance in front of a large crowd. Big thank you to the Rose of Mooncoin for their after match sponsorship for the girls.
U17 Girls Munster Shield Quarter Final Lakewood 0 Mooncoin Celtic 1 (AET) Ella Brennan was the hero in this tight knock out of game with her finish with minutes to go in extra time. Home semi final in a few weeks to come.
U14 Boys Cup Tramore 0 Mooncoin Celtic 1 Another tight game which was settled with a single goal. A finish from Ritchie H was the difference and sends the boys through to the semi final against Piltown.
U13B Result Mooncoin Celtic 1 Ballyduff 1 Tyler gave this squad a first half lead but Ballyduff grew in to the game and deservedly equalised from the penalty spot to secure a point. Still on top of the table with 5 games to go.
U13A Mooncoin Celtic 0 Tramore 4 A very disappointing result and flat performance with Tramore having things wrapped up by half time.
U18 Girls Cup Semi final Result Tramore 3 Mooncoin Celtic 2(AET) A cracking cup tie between two good sides in warm conditions and it went right to the end of extra time. Emily Blackmore and Sophie Phelan got our goals but it was Tramore who advance. This squad are still in the mix for the league so fingers crossed their day will come soon. Best of luck to Tramore in the Final.
1B League Result Ferrybank 1 Mooncoin Celtic 2 A quick start by Ferrybank saw them lead after just 4 minutes against our young side who huffed and puffed throughout the first half and got a scrappy equaliser through Tommy Lennon just on half time. A much better second half saw us dominate with the winner eventually coming through Jason Sauvage after great work by DT McGrath. Three points gained and on to another away game against Kilmacow on Tuesday to come.
Finally, our Dixie Dribblers Academy which is kindly Sponsored by Eastgate Engineering travelled to Ballyduff last Sunday and enjoyed games in glorious weather. Well done to all involved and Celina Kinsella,our Academy coordinator for organising it
U17 Girls This morning, our u17 girls boarded a bus bound for Ovens. Co. Cork to play Lakewood Athletic in the Munster Shield quarter final. Our opponents are a premier team in the Cork league, but that didn’t faze our girls. In glorious sunshine, both teams gave everything on the pitch.
Full-time came and the deadlock hadn’t been broken. Extra time was called for, deep into the second half Amy was scratching her head trying to pick girls out to take penalties and with only 5 minutes remaining Ella Brennan got in front of her marker to face the goalie and casually chipped her to see the ball nestle in the back of the goal. Our girls held out to take their deserved place in the Semi Final. Every girl that took part gave 100% and we as coaches are immensely proud of them. Match day squad: S Kirwan, A Hassett, M O’Keeffe, S Scahill, K Moore, M Murphy, A Rees, S Phelan, A Reddy, E Brennan, S Phelan, K Byrne, M Quinn, A Connery and B Vereker.
Following a dramatic end to the first game in Mooncoin 10 days previously, these two sets of players served up and absolute belter of a game and unfortunately there had to be a loser . Maria D got the all important goal to decide the tie. A massive thank you to all involved in getting this game replayed and hats off to Villa FC for their sportsmanship on the first day and agreeing to the game being replayed. The girls progress to tomorrow afternoon’s final in WorkLab Connors Park against League champs Ballyduff. Ladies Munster Shield Peake Villa 0 Mooncoin Celtic 4 After only playing Wednesday evening,our ladies had a trip to Tipp and flew out of the blocks with goals from Emily Blackmore, Ella Brennan and Becky Derwin sending the girls through to the last 8.
U13A Boys Mooncoin Celtic 2 Piltown 4 Two up at half time in this one but piltown capitalised on a couple of defensive lapses to clinch the points on offer.

U11A Cup Mooncoin Celtic 1 Carrick Utd 6 1-1 at half time with Oisin getting our goal set this game up for a big second half but that did not materialise as Carrick rattled in 5 without reply.
U11F Cup Dungarvan 2 Mooncoin Celtic 0 Our youngest group faced league winners in the cup semi final and a deflected effort and long range finish sent Dungarvan through.
U12 Boys De la Salle 0 Mooncoin Celtic 2 Three away points secured with goals coming from Shay and Tom M.
Piltown 0 Mooncoin Celtic 3 A scoreless first half saw a few shaky moments but goals from Ted,Shay and Tom M secured the points on Bank holiday Monday.
U16A Girls Cup Semi final Villa 4 Mooncoin Celtic 1 A very poor first half saw villa 3 up at half time but a stern talk saw life injected in to the girls with Mollie pulling a goal back before we missed a penalty which would have given us a grandstand finish but villa notched their 4th with minutes to go.
U16B Girls Mooncoin Celtic 2 Piltown 0 A first win for this group and richly deserved. Two goals from Rebecca saw three points on the board.
U11D League Mooncoin Celtic 1 Waterford Crystal 0 A narrow win saw the lads take three points and finish in 3rd place and they’ll look forward to the cup after a decent league campaign. Oodhran got the winner yesterday.
U15 Boys Mooncoin Celtic 2 Piltown 2 We welcomed piltown to Suir Crescent looking to maintain their 100% win record but the boys set out their stall from the off and Conor and Samuel with his first ever goal saw them lead but a long range free kick just before half time saw piltown go in to the second half in confident mood but the boys stood firm before a long range effort from piltown saw the points shared in an entertaining derby.
U14 Boys Mooncoin Celtic 5 Ballyduff 2 The lads finished their league campaign with another win and will head in to the cup in confident mood.
3B League Result Mooncoin Celtic 2 Villa 3 A very disappointing result where the lads will know they should have got the three points on offer. Two poor mistakes saw them two nil down before James Blackmore pulled a goal back with a penalty but another defensive lapse saw villa score but back we came with Adam Cunningham scoring and we still created chances to get a point but it wasn’t to be.
1B League Result Waterford Crystal 0 Mooncoin Celtic 0 Two points definitely dropped here with plenty chances created but no finished product in front of goal with Tadhg Derwin, Stephen Wall, James Delahunty, James Blackmore,Danny West and Alex Kennedy all going close. Still unbeaten after 5 games and another clean sheet are the positives.
Final word to two of our goalkeepers who were representing Waterford recently. In a pre Gaynor cup tournament, Hannah Dobbyn was on duty in Clare where Waterford finished 5th of 12 teams in a very competitive competition. Up in Sligo, Bradley Nolan kept goal in the U15 Development Final but unfortunately they were beaten 3 nil on the day. Well done Bradley and Hannah, two keepers with big futures.
One of our U12 players Shay Moore, who only recently picked up a gold medal in an international Muay Thai competition in Estonia, has been picked to represent Ireland in the IFMA Youth World Championships in Dubai later this year. As part of getting selected for the trip, funding is required from all participants to subsidise the costs towards it. U18 Girls League Mooncoin Celtic 4 Tramore 3 A ding dong battle played out last Wednesday evening saw us secure a crucial three points thanks to goals from Ella, Emily with two and young Sophie Phelan getting on the score sheet too.
U11E Cup Semi Final Result Bohs 2 Mooncoin Celtic 0 A very disappointing result for this squad who gave their all against League champs Bohs in wet conditions. Two long distance shots caught the lads out and try as they might ,they couldn’t get back in to it.
U13A Boys Result Mooncoin Celtic 2 Bohs 1 A first win of the season for this group and long overdue. Two excellent goals saw the three points gladly secured.
U13B Boys Result Mooncoin Celtic 2 Carrick Utd 1 A tight tense game saw Lexi and Dionos get the goals to keep this group top of the table with plenty games still to come.
U15 Boys Result Mooncoin Celtic 0 Dungarvan Utd 4 Flattering scoreline after a huge effort from this group who called upon our u14s to strengthen the squad.
3B League Result Seaview Celtic 2 Mooncoin Celtic 0 A very good display by the boys, but unfortunately it didn’t yield any points but this squad are improving every game. Seaview scored on 70 minutes and with the last kick of the game.
U12 Boys Result Dungarvan Utd 1 Mooncoin Celtic 4 Another 3 points secured with goals from Shay, Charlie,Tom M and Ted. Games running out in the title race but this squad will give everything to try and win it.
U14 Boys Result Mooncoin Celtic 5 Piltown 3 A tight derby on Easter Monday saw three points secured after a nervous few spells in the game. Scorers on the day were Ali, Noel, Paudie, Aaron and Jack.
U16A Girls Result Mooncoin Celtic 2 Tramore 6 League leaders Tramore were the visitors and showed why they are top with some cracking goals. Our girls battled throughout and got two goals back through Sophie and Mollie but three points head to the seaside.
FAI Ladies Shield Park Rangers 0 Mooncoin Celtic 3 A very efficient display with cracking goals from Shauna Mullowney, Becky Connaughton and Ella Brennan sees the girls go through. They have a quick turn around and a trip to thurles on Friday evening against Peake Villa in the Munster Shield.
