U13b Boys League: Mooncoin Celtic 2 – 1 De la Salle

Second match for Mooncoin Celtic u13s in 5 days saw De la Salle u13s visit Suir Crescent.

Mooncoin started strong and pressure resulted in Sam latching on to a square ball from Fionn to slot in past the keeper to go 1 nil up.

Ten mins later and Sam had his second, this time Canice crossed the ball and Sam was sharp to volley home at the back post. De la Salle came back at us with Bradley making a great save.

Just before half time De la Salle pulled back a goal that scrambled just over the line. The second half was cagey and the Mooncoin subs brought some added energy to the team.

A gritty display from all the lads today to see out the win 2-1 with Naoise and Robbie negating a lot of the opposition’s attacks.

Ladies Friendly: Clonmel Celtic 1 – 0 Mooncoin Celtic

Our young ladies side with a few new additions continued preparations for the upcoming Munster Cup with a tough friendly against an impressive Clonmel Celtic side in Ferryhouse this afternoon.

Plenty chances throughout but that killer instinct in front of goal was the only thing missing today. Big thanks to Jacinta and all in Clonmel Celtic for hosting us.

Mooncoin representation in Waterford Dev Squads at the Weekend

While Emily Blackmore, Aoibhe Rees and Ella Brennan were with the U16s.

We have to give a special mention to the hat trick hero Emily Blackmore who notched a treble for the U16s.

U11F Boys League: St Josephs 0 – 4 Mooncoin Celtic

James was captain for today’s game as the boys turned out in red against a resolute St Joseph’s side.

Mooncoin dominated play from the early stages but couldn’t find the finishing touch in the whole of the first half with Rueben and Liam unlucky to have their efforts blocked or saved.

The deadlock was broken by Shane however whose strike high into the goal almost burst the net early in the second half. A second followed soon after with Shane flying down the wing once more and playing the ball to Eoin who squared it for Tadhg to slot home.

He got his second soon after cutting in from the right and finishing smartly past the keeper. The final goal saw Shane played in by Eoin and score only to be ruled out initially.

However on reflection the referee deemed him to be onside so the goal stood. A great day out for the boys and back to winning ways. Two for Shane, two for Tadhg and a hat trick of assists for Eoin. 4-0 to Mooncoin.

U11D Boys League: Mooncoin Celtic 2 – 2 Dungarvan United

A cracker of a game in sunny Suir Crescent this morning with the game flowing from end to end.

Dungarvan were quickest out of the traps and grabbed an early lead and held it until just before half time when Pete Dunphy scored a cracking free kick.

The second half saw Teddy Dunphy continue his goal scoring run when he slotted home but back came Dungarvan and they equalised with a few minutes remaining. Great entertainment from both sides.

U13b Boys League: Mooncoin Celtic 3 – 1 Piltown

Mooncoin Celtic u13s welcomed Piltown to Suir Crescent this afternoon and it was always going to be a competitive battle.

With three minutes on the clock a corner from Piltown produced a great save from Will but the rebound was scrambled home. The lads heads didn’t drop and after a few minutes a brave 50/50 by Tommy with the Piltown keeper led to Tommy getting his deserved goal.

The match was hard fought with Mooncoin defending plenty of good Piltown corners and a goal line clearance by Naoise saved a bizarre chance. Just before half time a foul on the left wing led to a superb free kick by Sam which was too high for the keeper to keep out and Mooncoin went into the break 2-1 up.

The game opened up in the second half and following a disallowed offside goal, Fionn struck again to ease the nerves.

A few good saves from Bradley in the last ten minutes saw the game out with all of the squad playing their part today.
