This is a kind reminder that all are welcome to attend our AGM which will be held on Saturday 2nd July in the Mooncoin Parish Hall at 6.30 pm.
The club has seen fantastic success on and off the pitch, and of course there’s always items to improve so this is a great chance for all members, players, coaches and players parents to have a say in the future of the club.
It was the last day before the summer break for local schools in Mooncoin and what better way to conclude the term than a visit by past and present students and the display of recently won silverware.
The morning started with a visit to the Carrigeen National School. A large portion of the u11 team are from the school and all were in great form as they talked about the recent win.
There were also a number of past pupils from the u15 double winning team that came to share their experience.
Next up was an assembly with the Senior Mooncoin National School and a huge around of applause for the U11 team members from the Senior school.
The final visit was to the Junior Mooncoin National School and there were loads of questions for the U11 team members and the U14&U16 Gaynor Cup squad members.
What a morning to be out and about Mooncoin and we thank the schools for such an enjoyable experience.
A windy evening in Tramore saw league champions Ferrybank and our own boys go toe to toe for the Frank O’Byrne Cup on offer.
Chances came and went for both sides in the first half with Ryan Sutton going close twice only to be foiled by the impressive Ferrybank number one, Tyler Kelly pulled off a stunning double save and had John Mackey to thank for clearing away the third attempt. 0-0 at half time.
The second half started with Mooncoin Celtic on top with Will Doherty, Richard Hayes, Jack Twomey and Ryan Sutton getting on top in midfield. 3 minutes in and Will Doherty latched on to a through ball and slid it past the advancing keeper much to the delight of the big support from Mooncoin.
More chances came and went for Ferrybank with Tyler Kelly in top form on goal when tested and Evan O’Brien went very close to sealing the game but could only find the side netting.
A tense finish saw wild celebrations at the final whistle as our boys hung on against a very good Ferrybank team. Massive well done to this big squad and coaches Shane Twomey, Martin O’Brien and Lyndsey Kelly and a big thanks to the travelling support last night and all season.
A very tight game between Ferrybank and Mooncoin Celtic this evening with 2 strong teams not giving an inch but also playing some great football and on the turn of an instant Mooncoin got their noses in front and took the Cup win.
Some great celebrations followed.
Full match report to follow but for now enjoy the video and pictures.
Excellent comeback up in Cahir, with Longford 3-1 up at one stage but the final score was Longford 3 Waterford 5 and Waterford win the SFAI Shield for 2022.
Congrats to all players and coaches involved.
Fantastic to see Mooncoin Celtic players Sommer, Ella and Emily get their hands on the Shield too.
Our young academy boys took part in the Ferrybank AFC U9 Clover Tournament today and put in a great effort in both their groups to gain much needed experience in a competitive setting.
With 13 out of the 17 on duty underage again next year, today will be of huge benefit. Special mention must go to 7 year old Billy Fielding who bagged a hat trick in game 2 against Dungarvan and also notched against Tramore.
Big thanks and well done to Ferrybank on a brilliantly run U9 Academy tournament.
