U16 Girls League: Mooncoin Celtic 5 – 1 Waterford Crystal

Sunny skies with a light breeze were the conditions for todays home game V Waterford Crystal .

A wonderful game of ball that saw all players getting time on the pitch . The work rate of our girls saw us get on top and we slotted home goals from Ella Brennan , Molly Long , Aoibhe Rees and Emily Blackmore to secure the win .

Massive credit today to the Girls from Crystal who showed great determination and work rate today which was to be admired .

The game was played in in good spirits from the first whistle to the last.

U12a Girls League: Villa 2 – 2 Mooncoin Celtic

This morning saw our u12 Green squad travel to Villa to play in the lovely sun. Team work from all our girls and plenty of fight saw us eventually end at 2-2.

Either side could have nicked it but a draw was probably a fair result from an exciting game.

Courtenay and Lexi were our scorers today and an excellent performance from each and every girl on the team. ⚽💪⚽

3rd Division Cup: Mooncoin Celtic 0 – 3 St Paul’s

St Paul’s were full value for their win this morning after a very disappointing performance by all on duty.

After our win last week in Lisduggan, we knew St Paul’s would be fired up for this one and they started strong and deservedly took the lead on 15 minutes after a corner wasn’t dealt with in the 6 yard box.

We created a number of chances throughout the first half but the final finish was lacking.

Second half was even enough but again St Paul’s took their chances when another corner wasn’t dealt with and was duly buried.

We did again create chances but poor finishing and good goalkeeping kept St Paul’s ahead. A severe bounce from a long kick from the St Paul’s keeper resulted in the third goal for Paul’s and they deservedly advance to the semi finals.

Best of luck to St Paul’s in the semi finals.

U12B Boys League: Mooncoin Celtic 1 – 5 Park Rangers

Two goals in quick succession, the latter being a clear offside on ten minutes left the boys with a mountain to climb early on.

They grew into the game however and got a goal from a free kick from Ritchie which wasn’t dealt with by the Park Rangers defence. We hit the post also but just couldn’t get the breaks. Second half we had our chances most notably from set pieces but the ball just wouldn’t go over the line and eventually Park Rangers extended their lead as Mooncoin tried to get back into it.

Good performance from the lads again but just not getting the breaks this year. Full time it was 5-1 to the visitors.

U12C Boys League: Mooncoin Celtic 1 – 0 Kilmacow

Local Derby kicked off at midday Saturday was a rense affair from the start with very few chances for either side. Second half saw Mooncoin up the tempo and start to play football with Ethan dictating play in the midfield.

Indeed it was his composure which set up the winner as he ran through the midfield and played a lovely through ball into Noel’s feet. Noel’s first touch past the last defender set him clear on goal and with the keeper to beat he dinked the ball past the keeper from twelve yards.

Noel was through again soon after and was unlucky to hit the post having shot past the keeper. Kilmacow rallied and had their chances late on but Ultan, Tadhg, Viktor and TJ were all in imperious form in defence and gave away very little.

Player of the match must go to Eoin however who worked tirelessly from start to finish on both wings and led by example as captain for the day. 1-0 it finished and just reward for the boys who go from strength to strength.

U14B Girls League: Mooncoin Celtic 4 – 1 Piltown

Mooncoin welcomed Piltown Blue to Suir Crescent. A Strong defence kept a hard working Piltown team away from scoring anymore than 1 goal.

Midfield worked tirelessly in both defence & attack. Our strikers kept their defence busy and were very unlucky on more than one occasion not to add to our final tally of 4 goals.

Our girls played some brilliant passes and kept the ball flowing throughout the match. Briona got us on the score board after 20minutes followed shortly after by another goal from Anna Reddy.

The second half started off slow for us & Piltown slipped a goal past our posts. Changes at half time saw Alexi come on up front & it wasn’t long until she directed the ball straight in to the back of the net a move which she repeated less than 10 minutes later to bring us to a 4-1 win.

U11A Boys League: Mooncoin Celtic 2 – 3 Tramore

A very slow start from the boys cost them dearly against a slick passing Tramore side who raced into a two goal lead in the first 10 minutes.

Eventually they got going coming in to half time and Jack Twomey pulled a goal back with a bullet header. Plenty chances came their way in the second half with James O’Keeffe Bolger going close twice before Tramore snatched a third.

A Ryan Sutton header gave the lads late hope but unfortunately it wasn’t to be.

3A League: St Paul’s 2 – 3 Mooncoin Celtic

Title chasing St Paul’s hosted us today on the moon in perfect conditions. From the off, the boys pestered St Paul’s and gave very little space all over. On 25 minutes Ryan Carroll slotted home after a long throw by Chris O’Hanlon.

We were under a wee bit of pressure after this but weathered the storm and Ryan Carroll popped up again to nod home from a Chris O’Hanlon cross this time. Second half started and we quickly went 3 up with Derek Tebay nodding home after Jason Sauvage had a free kick fumbled.

We continued to attack and possibly could have been out of sight but for poor finishing and bad luck. To be fair St Paul’s had plenty chances but our young defence stood firm before two scrambles resulted in a nervy finish. Excellent performance by all on duty today but special mention to a red hot Ryan Carroll.

U12B League: Mooncoin Celtic 1 – 2 Ballinroad

An even contest once again with Ballinroad saw both teams cancel each other out in the first half. Second half was more open and Mooncoin were desperately unlucky when Sean rattled the crossbar from twenty yards.

Unfortunately Ballinroad went ahead a minute later and went two up soon after. Mooncoin pushed on and won a free on the right. Tom whipped the ball to the far post and Padraig stuck his header into the corner.

That was about as good as it got however in spite of a late rally. 2-1 to the visitors.
