U11A League Result Southend 3 Mooncoin Celtic 0

Breezy cold conditions made life difficult for both teams throughout but our young side set out their stall to frustrate Southend and limit their chances. A goal just before half time saw Southend go in 1 up and two late goals sealed the three points. Each game this group is improving and will get their rewards soon enough.

U12D League Result Mooncoin Celtic 7 Ferrybank 2

Mooncoin hosted ferrybank in an exciting game from start to finish. The boys were well on top before a ferrybank goal kick went over our defence for the striker to put it past goalkeeper Patrick to make it 1-0 on the 15 minute mark. We retaliated quick through oisin who smashed it in with a half volley to get his first of 3 for the day. We quickly scored another goal with oisin using good footwork and tapping it in the bottom right corner to put us 2-1 up. Ferrybank quickly scored a second when the ball again went over our defence this time from a free kick and tapped it in to the goal. We went into into the break at 2-2. The boys knew at half time they should’ve been winning at the break with a few little mistakes costing them, they were determined to put that right in the 2nd half. Within the first 2 minutes Pete crossed in the ball to oisin who hammered it home to secure his hat trick and put us up 3-2. Shortly there after shay was determined to get his first goal of the season getting very close on a couple of occasions before he glided past the ferrybank defence and smashed it in the corner off of the crossbar to get his first of the season. The ball broke from a Billy corner kick and shay was there again outside the box and got a sweet connection with the ball flying in the bottom right corner to get his 2nd of the game and to put us 5-2 up. Shay again showed some good footwork to put the ball past a couple defenders and tapped it in the bottom corner to seal his hat trick. Seanie M also got on the scoresheet for the first time this morning with a nice goal from the edge of the box going in the bottom right corner to make it 7-2. The hard work on the training ground has been starting to show for this group across the last 2 games and we hope to keep the momentum going.

Waterford Womens Winter League Tramore 3-1 Mooncoin Celtic

Our Ladies team travelled to Tramore this evening for our second to last game of Womens Winter League .

In a beautiful gesture , Tramore presented our club with a pennant . Given in friendship and in memory of our player The Late Kate Corcoran .

This young team gave one of their best performances in the winter league this evening . And although the score was 3-1 to the home side , the score line doesn’t in anyway reflect the game as a whole .

We started the game strongly and made some very good passes . We were getting our heads up and picking out players and passes . Our back four led by one of our Captains Amy Lehane stood firm and worked hard together to extinguish any imminent Tramore danger .
Bathany and Hannah Carroll played some excellent football in the centre of the Park breaking down play and getting ball foward . Our youngest player Ella Brennan was a thorn in the side of the opposition this evening and proved her worth on the field of play . Emily Blackmore and Rebecca Derwin were our ladies up front and battled hard for 90 minutes this evening.
We took the lead on the 25 minute mark , when Ella Brennan broke free of a tackle and put the ball down the line for Emily Blackmore , who took a touch and seeing the Tramore keeper off her line , took a shot from just outside the box the sailed to the back of the net . On the 40 minute mark a Tramore player found themselves one on one with Our Keeper Abbie Hassett and what looked to be a sure fire goal was saved by the determined keeper .
At the break we led 0-1
Tramore pulled a goal back ten minutes into the second half . But our heads didn’t drop . Added a second 15 from the finish . We had a couple of chances but didn’t capitalise on them . Tramore netted a third with a couple of minutes on the clock . Putting daylight between the teams .
The result didn’t go our way this evening . But there was so many positives from our performance, that it’s hard to be too disheartened. Many thanks to all who travelled to support us .
