U11F Boys: Kilmacthomas 1 – 2 Mooncoin Celtic

The match began with a minute’s applause to honour Vicky Phelan who sadly passed away this week.

Donncha wore the armband today and led by example with a dominant midfield performance. Mooncoin battled well in the first half without creating any notable chances. We were unlucky late in the half when an attempted clearance went straight into the goal.

Amends were made within a couple of minutes when Eoin’s shot from outside the area burst the back of the Kilmacthomas net, that’s 4 in 4 games for him.

1-1 at half time and fresh legs in the second half saw Mooncoin press forward with Shane’s shot being parried by their keeper to Billy on the left of the area who rifled home the winner.

Kilmacthomas had chances to equalise late on but two attempts went wide and one was bravely saved by TJ in the goal with his legs. Donncha was unlucky when his shot hit the crossbar near the end.

The victory belonged to Mooncoin however to remain top of the table with a 100% record.

Deep Condolences

Today is an incredibly sad day for the Phelan and Kelly family following the passing of Vicky, after what can only be described as one hell of a battle.

Vicky was a true warrior, who displayed huge courage, bravery and composure in recent years through campaigning and her fight against her illness.

Vicky was an inspiration to young and old, female and male. Her leadership has left a lasting legacy on Ireland. The country has lost a hero. Condolences from all involved in Mooncoin Celtic FC. Rest In Peace, Vicky.

U14 Girls: Mooncoin 1 – 2 Bohemians

Bohs came to Suir Crescent Sunday and a right battle took place. It was end to end from start to finish with Bohs marginally coming out on top.

A strike from the edge of the box crept in to give Bohs the lead mid way through the first half.
A super strike from distance from Ellie Thompson levelled the score after the break.

A great run and clean strike late on sealed the points for Bohs.
The result didn’t reflect the battle on the field when a draw may have been fairer.

Final score Mooncoin 1-2 Bohs

Mooncoin Celtic U10 Girls

Our two u10 teams played games this morning in the non competitive league.

A tight game for our older girls against Southend with a real battle fought out while our younger girls played a strong Tramore side.

We have a big number of girls with these two groups and both squads requiring plenty game time to develop.
