A quick start saw the lads go one up early on through a tidy Jamie Moore finish from just outside the box after good work by Sean Grace and Kieran Fagan.
With the midfield three of Adam Cunningham, Kevin Conneely and Joey O’Hanlon on top, the pressure was telling with a few corners nearly resulting in a second before Kevin Law nodded home one of Adam Cunningham’s inswingers on 35 minutes to put a little bit of daylight between the two teams.
The second half saw Piltown get back in to the game on the hour mark but that was as good as it got with Kieran Fagan heading home our third from a Sean Grace corner.
This mornings road trip took our u17 Girls team in Rainy cappaquinn .
We didn’t create too many chances in the first half , but our solid defence of Sophie Scahill , Ciara O Keeffe and Eimear Quinn made sure that Cappaquinn didn’t create anything at the other end either .
The introduction of Ella Brennan on the 25 minute mark turned the game on its head and changed the dynamic of the Mooncoin play .
Some stern words and straight talking at half time took immediate effect , a Sarah Walsh through ball after less than a minute in the second half was run onto by Emily Blackmore who steadied herself before shooting home .
Within two minutes the same duo struck again when Emily Lined up for Sarah , who finished to the net …..
Sommer Grant saw two chances go marginally wide as the Mooncoin girls begin to dominate the mid field .
On the 55 minute Mark Mooncoin struck again when a well worked Ella Brennan cross from the corner of the pitch was taken down by Emily who side stepped a defender before shooting to the top right corner .
The fourth of the day came after Ella Brennan found herself on the receiving end of a pass front of goal and she made no mistake in slotting the ball to the back of the net .
Todays game was our third win from three in this league .
Our next fixture is a Munster Cup game in two weeks.
Big well done to all 7 of our girls involved with Waterford Schoolgirls over the weekend in Gaynor Cup fixtures.
The U16s with our own Emily Blackmore, Aoibhe Rees and Ella Brennan involved unfortunately were beaten 2 nil.
Molly Murphy, Stephanie Phelan, and Áine Connery were part of the U14 squad who won 1 nil, also involved with this group are coaches Richard Long and Dee Travers.
Tomorrow sees Hannah Dobbyn heading to Cork with the U12 development squad for their first outing. Well done to all involved.
There was 12 left standing heading in to Week 9 in the race for €1000, there are now only 8 with poor performances by Everton and Man Utd costing 4 entries.
Week 10 throws up another bundle of tricky fixtures so we might see a winner before the World Cup break. Best of luck to all remaining entries.
This morning we took delivery of an important piece of match day equipment at our new grounds in Suir Crescent.
Courtesy of a donation from a very kind local businessman (who wishes to remain anonymous), Croom Concrete delivered two precast concrete dugouts which will be a massive on matchday for our subs and coaches for both home and away teams.
Unfortunately, the soft ground conditions will delay their final resting spot for now.
