U14b : Mooncoin 3 Tramore 2

If ever the saying it was a game of two havles suited a game it was this one.

We were 2-0 down inside 20 mins totally out played and out battled with the only plus for us being Anil’s excellent finish from a great through ball from josh.

A few stern questions and a tactial switch at half time and the second half turned out to be totally different we dominated the precedings Daniel made it 2-2 and Oisín on from half time scored what turned out to be the winner indeed both those players put in a huge 2nd half to get us back in the game.

In fact from half time every player gave their all and can be proud of the 2nd half performance but player of the match today goes to Josh McLoughlin who led the line tirelessly Josh has had hes injury problems of late and it was great to see him back to he’s best.

U12b Boys: Mooncoin Celtic 4 – 3 Bohemians B

Perfect morning in Suir Crescent to play Bohs u12s. Bohs started strongly and went 1-0 up in the first 5 minutes. Great play between Robbie and Ethan for the equaliser shortly after.

The game settled for the next quarter of an hour with both sides having chances. Shane got a goal, the ref must have had VAR on his watch as it just crossed the line. Second half and Fintan had a goal chalked off for offside when a teammate tapped it in as it was rolling over the line.

A great through ball from Fionn released Ethan and he calmly slotted home his second goal. Bradley came on up front in the second half and showed his composure to score and make the game 4-1.

Bohs didn’t give up and they got 2 goals back with a good shot and a scrambled goal from a corner.

Mooncoin defence were all determined to see out the last few minutes and it finished 4-3 in our favour.

U12 Girls: Mooncoin Celtic 4 -4 Park Rangers Red

Park Rangers Red got off to a flyer in Suir Crescent and were 2-0 up inside the first 5 minutes. They extended their lead to 3 before Mooncoin Celtic pulled one back just before half time.

Mooncoin really raised their game in the second half and brought the game back to 3-3. The Park Rangers keeper performed heroics in goal and they pulled ahead again but Mooncoin levelled it at 4-4 for a share of the spoils. Leah Twomey (2), Lexi Walsh and Aine O’Sullivan grabbed the goals for Mooncoin.

U16 Girls: Mooncoin Celtic record another win to stay top of the U16 league

On a lovely fresh Sunday afternoon Mooncoin u16s were at home to Ballyduff.

After a nervous start from our girls Ella Brennan made a run from a wide position and with a tight angle fired across the keeper, off the post and into the back of the net to open the scoring for Mooncoin.

We created a number of chances but for the first 20 minutes took this time to settle and then we got into the groove…with another 2 goals from Ella Brennan to complete her hatrick and a hatrick from Emily Blackmore.

Sommer Grant also got on the score sheet after her 3 assists.

Player of the match was Luiseach O’Donohue who ran and battled for the full 80 minutes and was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet herself. Ballyduff got on the score sheet with a late consolation.

Every player on the team today played outstanding and as always work ethic and determination prevailed. Another 3 points in the bag and top of the table to see out the end of the year. Merry Xmas!

U15c Boys: Ballyduff 0 – 4 Mooncoin Celtic

Game week 4 saw us visit Ballyduff . Hard day for football with a strong cross wind and a heavy pitch resulting in a battle for the upperhand for the first half.

A goal a few mins before half time sent us 1 up at the break. We took control of the second half and we were quite comfortable in the end.
Great performances by all , special mentions for Liam, Canice, Aidan & Anil.
MoM Robbie Doherty with 4 goals today

U13b Boys: Mooncoin Celtic 1 – 1 Kilmacow

A local derby that started off at a rocket fast pace and kept on going all the way to the final whistle.

From the early exchanges Kilmacow took the lead, but not long after Mooncoin carved out a few chances but none hit the net.

The just before half time a high speculative ball was pumped in to the Kilmacow box by Daniel and in a flash it was 1-1.

Mooncoin grew in confidence during the 2nd half but didn’t manage another break through and survived a late scare to end up sharing the spoils.
