Super Sunday for the SchoolGirls

Okay Saturday was great and Sunday proved to be a Super one too.

U10s: the u10s Girls played against Piltown and had a hatful of goals to show for their efforts.

U14s: Played against Carrick Utd, and at one stage were 0-2 down but fought back to 2-2 only to see a crossbar deny them a win and then a late goal to take away the draw, but a great game all around.

U17s travelled unmass to the Villa on Sunday afternoon and came away with a famous 2-1 win. A full match report on this one to follow soon.

This is a shout out for players to come join Mooncoin Celtic at u17 and Youths level, if you know of young men born 2004, 2005 or 2006 and want to play at a competitive level then give us a shout as we have some teams that would be delighted to take them in.

Youths B league: Tramore 1 vs Mooncoin Celtic 7

Waterford Junior League Youths B league

Tramore 1 vs Mooncoin Celtic 7

Great opening start to the league for this seasons youths team away to Tramore on Wednesday evening. Other commitments and an earlier start this year and clashes left us to travel with just 11 players. Including some who never played up a level. That in mind it’s hats off on a super performance to win this game so well.

Some tactical changes and moves for some players seen them having to play in positions they were not used to and you could argue after that you wouldn’t even notice. Starting at the heart of the team where a huge performance from Adam Conway, Liam Quinn,

Jack Drennan at the back and Jonah O’Toole in goal kept Tramore at bay all evening.. the threat came from the wings where Alex Bailey was in a comfort zone and linked up with Adam so well… Lee Freyne on the left gave the Tramore defence a night to forget and sealed the nights performance with a hat trick!

Dominance in the midfield was key and new role for Kieran Fagan who added two goals and playing many thru balls for Sam Hartwell who finished a goal in normal fashion.

Abdullahi Mohammad used his pace and quick feet to support Kieran. Our Last goal was scored by Stephen Foran. Matthew Morahan covered every blade of grass twice and put in a great performance to be involved in the goals and came to our call last minute when we thought we were going to be one short.

Great team effort by a great bunch who will only get stronger as the year goes on.

Mooncoin Celtic with Waterford Girls Development Squads

Great to see a fine performance by the Waterford U13 Girls development squad over the weekend.

Under the coaching stewardship of our own Victor Bailey and Richard Long the U13 squad played Tipperary South and came away with a win. Two Mooncoin Celtic players, Aoibhe Rees and Emily Cooney played their part, Aoibhe picking up 2 goals no less.

At the same venue in the WIT Arena, and same time the U15 Girls development squad played Tipperary South, with Emily, Sommer and Mia from Mooncoin Celtic all getting a run out against a strong Tipp South U15 team.
