Mooncoin Celtic Soccer Marathon 2023

Last Sunday we held our annual soccer marathon which was followed by our end of season awards. A big crowd came through our new gates and enjoyed a lovely sunny afternoon with plenty of fun had among coaches and players in all games and cross bar challenges. We finished with our player of the year awards for season 2022 /2023. A big thanks to everyone that helped set up for the day, Wild Willow Coffee Trailer for pitching up for the day and our two chefs Adam Cunningham and Mark Quinn for running the BBQ. Thanks must go to Mondo’s Takeaway for sponsoring our crossbar challenge prizes. Final thanks goes to everyone that sponsored our Soccer Marathon, it was very much appreciated.

Players and Coaches on Gaynor Cup duty

Big well done to all our players and coaches who were on Gaynor Cup duty against North Tipperary at U12 and U14 level last weekend. Hannah Dobbyn was on duty with the u12s up in Birdhill while Molly Murphy,

Áine Connery and Stephanie Phelan were on U14 duty in the Villa along with club coaches Dee Travers, Richard Long and Derek Tebay.

U10 Girls Sporting new Jerseys

The last team of 21 in the club to be kitted out was our second u10 girls team who thankfully had a kind man in the form of Liam Dunne of Klearcom step up and put his name forward to have our girls looking great on match days.

Incredible generosity from Liam, our coaches and girls are extremely grateful. Pictured in the new strip are some of our future stars along with coaches Caroline O’Mahony, PJ O’Leary and Mags Cronin.

Coaches earn their FAI badge

Big thanks to Will Kinsella, FAI Development Officer for Kilkenny, for overseeing the PDP 1 course held in the last week in Suir Crescent.

Well done to the 16 coaches who completed their first coaching course and they will look to put it to good use with our younger kids.

We plan to hold another PDP 1 and PDP 2 in the coming weeks and months.

Fun for all

At our new grounds yesterday, we had a little mix and match of our youngest girls group teaming up with our Senior Ladies group for a short ball work session and plenty fun was had by all involved with our young u10s showing off their skills and impressing our older girls.

These young 8 and 9 year olds girls are the future stars of our female section and will be a driving force in years to come.
