2nd div result: DUNGARVAN 0 MOONCOIN 0

A trip into the unknown for Saturday night lights in Dungarvan to open the 2nd division season .
A few late withdrawals from the squad left us with possibly the youngest Mooncoin team ever to represent the club , with the squad made up of 9 of the 15 players being 18 yrs old or younger .
Despite the perceived lack of experience we took the game to the home team and played some great football in the opening half hour.
To be fair to Dungarvan they weathered a few storms and troubled us on the counter attack with their speedy striker but the chaps at the back were resolute and unforgiving in their defending.
The game was allowed to flow by some brilliant refereeing and chances were missed by both sides over the course of the second 45 mins.
I might be biased , but given the chances created we were unfortunate not to take the 3pts
A no score draw sent us away up the N25 with mixed feelings on the outcome.
We’ll go again Wednesday evening against close neighbours Portlaw , where your sure too see an even younger team on view !!!!
Well done to all involved good point 👏👏
Special thanks to Michael Murphy for his sponsorship of a fantastic new set of gear , much appreciated by all involved 👍🏻

LMS update

Man Utd, Brighton, Watford and Everton were responsible for another 22 fallers over the last two days to bring it to 45 fallers in total in the first two weeks. A good number on Spurs and Man City tomorrow, so who knows? Could we be seeing a few more fallers?

Last Man Standing Update

After the 23 fallers last week it will be interesting to see if we get any dropping this weekend and with a huge number on both Spurs and Man City it could be a massacre if one of these drop points.

Fixtures for the weekend

Saturday:
2B away to Dungarvan,
Kick off 7pm
A new youthful looking 2b side head to Kilrush Park hoping to get off to a winning start against what is sure to be a decent Dungarvan side.

Sunday:
3rd division home to Stradbally,
Kick off 11am
An early start for Jamie Moore and his troops who have been busy with games in preseason in preparation for the league. A mix of youth and experience will look to gather 3 points and get going early.

Youths away to Abbeyside,
Kick off 2pm
This young group will be looking for another 3 points after impressing against Tramore on Monday last and put down a marker in this league.

Support for all our teams is welcome and fingers crossed they all start well.

Youths Result: Mooncoin Celtic 6 Tramore C 1

A devastating first 30 minutes saw the lads race into a 6 goal lead with Kieran Fagan 3 and Evan Cleary 2 adding to Rudi’s opener. Tramore kept trying to play regardless of the scoreline and pulled a goal back via the penalty spot.
A few changes at half time didn’t stop the flow of the game and an even second half yielded no more goals.
Good start, Paraic Murphy was man of the match followed closely by Adam Croke.

Season underway

The season officially gets under way this evening when our youths play host to Tramore in their first league game. A lot of faces returning to the club at this age group after a few years away and they’ll be backed up by our talented u16 players.
Kick off is 6.30 in Ashgrove and support for all our teams will be most welcome.

Last Man Standing competition

110 entries for our Last Man Standing competition which kicked off today. 11 fallers thanks to Newcastle and Aston Villa getting beaten. A few run the risk of getting knocked out tomorrow.
Big thanks to all who entered. Your support is very much appreciated.

Best of luck to James Aylward

The very best of luck to James Aylward and the Kilkenny Minor and Senior teams tomorrow in the All Ireland finals.
An unbelievable achievement for young James to captain the minors in their quest for glory.
Fingers crossed James will be delivering a speech from the Hogan Stand and bringing home the Irish Press Cup tomorrow evening.
