Youths cup semi final Johnville 2 Mooncoin 1

The two top teams in the division went toe toe in an epic cup semi final in Ozier park today .
As holders of the cup we were highly motivated to turn in a performance to try secure a crack at retaining the trophy but came up against a top class Johnville side who just edged the result 2.1..
We started the game brilliantly and had most of the possession and the football we played was top quality in the early exchanges.
The midfield bossed the pace of the game with their pressing , tackling and passing .
We opened the scoring after 15 minutes when a great ball from Dan Cleary deep into the Johnville area caused confusion between defender and keeper , when the ball popped up Evan Cleary was well placed to head home.
We continued to force the game and a few more chances went astray before Johnville started to get more of the play in the 10 mins before half time.
The equaliser came when a clearance was intercepted and a shot from just inside the box found the net.
The opposition forced the tempo of the game in the second half and we had to work extremely hard to create anything and restrict Johnville to the minimum of chances.
They had the luck on the hour mark when a surging run from a midfielder took him to the end line and when his delivery arrived in the box the centre forward reacted first to head home off the cross bar.
The last half hour was played at a frantic pace as both teams soaked up pressure and counter attacked to try and force the crucial goals to book a spot in the final.
Despite the few tactical and personel changes we got plenty of balls into the box but we didn’t have the luck in seeking the equaliser.
The lads can consider themselves unlucky to lose out but full credit to the Johnville players and coaches on their second half performance which ultimately swung the game in their favour.
Disappointment is hard to take in any walk of life but thats what we sign up for in sport, today didn’t go our way but these young men have done themselves proud this season and are a credit to their parents and families.
The future of the club looks in good hands with these lads coming through to junior football next season.
Although we have a league game still to play, the management want to thank the parents for their support throughout the season in getting the lads to matches , training and being vocal on the line for all our games this season .Greatly appreciated 👍🏻

U12 Result: Kilmacow 0 Mooncoin Celtic 2

A humdinger of a game which was end to end but we had the majority of the attacks throughout. Jamie Croke with the two goals and was unlucky not to get the hat trick, Anil and Alex on the wings were nonstop and each unlucky with a few shots on target. Billy Del was solid in the middle but the back 4 of Jake,Sean, Liam and Conor were unreal all the way to the end, and last but not least Paddy T in goal was outstanding and got his well deserved clean sheet. Man of the match was Jake he cleared everything that came in, overall 3 points ,clean sheet ,and finishing 3 rd in the league, a good day around

LMS Update

Four left standing heading in to week 8 and the picks for the weekend are Wolves, Arsenal, Arsenal and Man United. Will we get a winner this weekend or will it go to the last week of the season? Surely Arsenal can’t slip up again? United beat Huddersfield? And will Wolves beat an inform Fulham?
Best of luck to the last four standing participants.

Fixtures for the weekend

Tomorrow:
U12 away to Kilmacow, kick off 10.30
Tomorrow our u12s will look to prepare for their cup with a derby win in Kilmacow which will see them finish 3rd in a tricky league with little between themselves and the top two Seaview and Stradbally.
Sunday:
Youth Cup semi final
Mooncoin Celtic v Johnville in Ozier Park, kick off 2.30
A big game between the top two in this league meeting in what will be a tight affair. A big crowd will boost the lads as they look to book a cup final slot next Sunday.
Monday:
U15 home to De la Salle,
Kick off 12.30
Our u15 group head into a very big week where the destination of the league will be shaped by next Thursday’s round of fixtures. All they can do is win the remaining games and see what happens in the other games.
Again, a big crowd getting behind them will be crucial.

Big weekend for some of our underage sides so get out there and support the future of your club.

U13 Cup Result

Tramore 2 Mooncoin Celtic 0
The tables were well and truly turned this evening in Graun Park where a team that was beaten 5-2 three weeks ago by an inform Mooncoin Celtic, came up trumps and beat the lads 2-0. Cup football can be very strange sometimes. An evening to forget for Derek and his squad.

Fixture today

U13 cup away to Tramore,
Kick off 6.30
This squad would love a bit of support as they start their cup campaign tonight against a Tramore side that they steamrolled a few weeks ago. If you have an hour drop out to the seaside and cheer them on.

2A result: Villa 5 Mooncoin Celtic 0

Champions elect Villa were too hot to handle for the lads who took to the field with a patched up team but credit to them all, they put it up to the Villa for the opening half hour before the home side opened the scoring and quickly rattled in the rest. Big thanks to the lads who took to the field yesterday.
