2B RESULT Piltown 0 Mooncoin 5

Before the games both teams observed a minute silence for our good friend Rocky . And the lads made him proud with a great performance putting last weeks defeat well behind them .

It was a cagey game for the first 15mins in strong winds and heavy rain for most of the game but the opening goal came on 20minutes with good play down the right wing , Ethan crossed in and Johnny kav made no mistake heading us 1-0 in front . We started to really get on top from this point an missed a few good opportunity’s but on 35minutes we went 2-0 up , again good play on the right side Kevin Dowley squared the ball across the box and Kavanagh who slotted into the bottom left corner . 2-0 at halftime .
The second half started as the first had finished with a very high tempo and it didn’t take long for the next goal to come , on 50mins wayne kelly who was a thorn in piltowns side all game played a super ball in from the left wing found Ian synnott who headed home for 3-0. 5minutes later it was 4-0 , Ian synnott was fouled outside the Piltown box and Wayne kelly buried the resulting free kick . With the game won we were always in control but the tempo dropped a little an we made 5 changes . Kevin Dowley , johnny Kavanagh , Ian synnott , Ivan Tobin and Robbie walsh made way for Liam walsh , Jamie Moore , eoghan walsh , joey hanlon and Kieran o Brien . We missed another couple of chances in between and with only a couple of minutes left we gave away a silly penalty , ross o keeffe who was solid as a rock on goal all game saved the penalty . From the goal kick the Piltown keeper came out an passed to Wayne kelly who chipped him nicely to seal a 5-0 victory . A brilliant win in bad conditions leaves this team 2 games and 2 wins away from a league trophey .
Team – Ross o keeffe , Ivan Tobin , chris o Hanlon , pj McGrath , Jason Sauvage , robbie walsh , Ethan Ryan , Wayne kelly , Kevin Dowley , Ian synnott , johnny Kavanagh . Subs used – liam walsh , Jamie Moore , eoghan walsh , joey Hanlon , Kieran o Brien .

Emily Blackmore in Cork

A little bit of good news today coming from Cork where Emily Blackmore done herself, her family, her club and Rocky proud by performing excellently in the blitz. Waterford had two groups out . Below is Emily’s sides results where unfortunately they got beaten in 2 games but won the other with the pocket rocket netting the winner.

Waterford v Limerick 0-2
Waterford V Cork 0-1
Waterford V Wexford 1-0 Goalscorer: Emily Blackmore
Nice one Emily, Rocky would have been well proud.

U14 result: Mooncoin Celtic 2 St Paul’s 3

An entertaining game with 5 goals in it but unfortunately the boys came out the wrong end of it. An og and an Aaron McLaughlin goal were not enough as the lads played only their second game in 4 months.

Both sides observing the minutes silence for Rocky before kick off today. A big thanks to St Paul’s for their kind words before the game.

Fixtures for the weekend

Today, u14 home to St Paul’s, kick off 12.30

Tomorrow: 2b away to Piltown, kick off 11am

The best of luck to all teams after a tough week for everyone. Support as always is most welcome both home and away.

Rockys Send Off

The club would like to thank all who attended the send off we gave Rocky this morning. A bubbly character is gone but definitely will not be forgotten. A big thank you to the boys, girls and men who formed the guard of honour on both the removal yesterday and the church yard this morning. We know this man will look over us and do his best to guide us to a trophy or 2 in the coming months. One player who Rocky would be rooting for is u12 player Emily Blackmore who travels tomorrow in the Waterford u12 girls development squad who play in a blitz in Cork. The best of luck from all within the club.

In honour of Rocky tonight

20K Drop Event Postponed

We are asking everyone to please share this post.

RIP Coach Rocky

It is with a very heavy heart that we share the sad news of the passing of our u12 coach Jeremy Rothwell, better known to us all as ‘Rocky’ or to the many kids as ‘Coach Rocky’. He was an extremely popular man with all the kids he dealt with over the years and will be fondly remembered as one of the most successful schoolboy managers the club has ever had with a number of leagues and cups secured with different sides over the last 15 years.

We will post about the funeral details once they are announced.

RIP Rocky. You’ve left a long lasting impression on all that you have coached and all the members of our club .

Our sincere condolences to Mary and the family.
