Emily Blackmore U12 Waterford girls development squad.

A little bit of news to share with everyone this evening. Over the last few weeks, Emily Blackmore has been attending trials for the U12 Waterford girls development squad. We are delighted to share with everyone that Emily has been successful after the series of trials and has made the squad. This young girl who is U12 again next season, has shown that hard work and determination pays off. Credit to Derek Tebay, our u12 coach who has worked closely with Emily coming up to and during the trials. Massive credit aswell to her parents, Catherine and Stephen for instilling the work rate and great mentality into Emily. A proud day for both of them and her brother James aswell. Good luck Emily and well done from all in the club.

U13 squad

Our U13 squad had a very good run out against Piltown yesterday on their Astro turf with Conor Dermody, Aaron Fewer, Mike O’Keeffe & Brian Dunphy among the goals. A worthwhile exercise with Park Rangers away on Saturday at 2pm. Big thanks to Tom Conway and Piltown for hosting us.

U13 Friendly result: DLS 3 Mooncoin Celtic 4

A much needed run out for Victors squad this morning when they played DLS on the Williamstown complex astro turf pitch. Goals from Conor Dermody, Eoin O’Callahan, Adam Conway & Sam Hartwell secured the win. The cobwebs are blown off just in time as they face Park Rangers away next Saturday afternoon. Thanks to DLS for hosting us.

Fixtures for the weekend

Tomorrow, u12 home to Stradbally, kick off 10.30. After a couple of defeats Derecks charges will be looking to bounce back and climb the table.

U14 home to St Paul’s, kick off 12.30

This squad have been starved of games with only one game in 12 weeks but they will look to kick start their season in what will be a tough game against Paul’s.

Academy U8/U9s away to Bohs, kick off 2pm. A runout for the older academy lads as they get ready for schoolboy football next season.

Sunday: youths home to Tramore B, kick off 2pm.

After disappointing defeat against Villa, the boys will need to win to give themselves any chance in the plate section. A few mistakes the last day cost them dearly so the management will have them well sorted before Sunday.

Please support all teams if possible this weekend.

Academy

Academy continues tomorrow evening from 6-7 pm for the younger group and 7-8pm for older group in Carrigeen astro turf. A chance for the kids to run off their mid term energy! Help as always is most welcome so drop down if you fancy getting stuck in.

Support the Midnight Walk for Vicky

The club would be grateful if all members, players, parents of schoolboy players, supporters, former players were to support this Midnight Walk which is being held to raise funds for Vicky Phelan (nee Kelly) to take part in a clinical trial abroad for cancer treatment. Everybody familiar with the club will know the deep history the Kelly family have with the club over the last 50 years going right back to its founding in 1968 by Vicky’s uncles Matty and Ned and also with Vicky’s dad John and three brothers being prominent players for many many years with the club. So please support this Lady in her fight and register for the walk this Friday in Blanchfields or go on the Mooncoin Midnight Walk Facebook page if you cannot make Friday. Thanking everyone in advance. Mooncoin Celtic Committee.

2B result MOONCOIN CELTIC 2-1 TRAMORE RANGERS.

The 2018 kicked off with a home game in what was heavy conditions after 11weeks without a game , That being said the football was good for the majority of the first half but we never reached the higher gears. The half saw long spells of possession and movement and finally the deadlock was broke. After consecutive chances missed by, D. Synnott, E. Walsh, J. O’Hanlon and I. Synnott, it was the later ian synnott who found the net after a neat ball through from E. Walsh when he rounded the keeper . The second half was lacking quality and end product for much of the first half hour and it was Ranger who capitalised. A free kick was whipped into the box from the byline, looped over O’Keeffe and all was square. Mooncoin dug in for the final quarter of an hour and when a draw looked on the cards it was substitute Moore who kept Celtics march on full swing. Ball into the box from Kavanagh, laid down to Moore by K. Dowley and the team went wild. Moore tapped into an empty net ??? ( hon Moore)

u11s hosting Seaview Celtic

Our u11s hosted Seaview Celtic in soft conditions in Ashgrove this morning. Both clubs played tremendous football with a glut of goals scored by both clubs. Great progress being made by this group with every game that passes.
