A very interesting game takes place tomorrow evening in Ashgrove when the Dixie derby at u13 level takes place at 6.15. In the green corner is Mick Dixie Conway managing Mooncoin Celtic u13s against a Piltown side in claret and Blue led by Thomas Dixie Conway. Plenty of slagging and jockeying has gone on in the few weeks since the fixtures were released but all of this will be put to one side when the game kicks off. The late Tom Dixie Conway will be smiling to himself upstairs watching this one where 2 sons will try outwit each other and 2 grandsons will be trying to get one over on the other. A must see game for anyone.
Schoolboy team updates
With the season kicking off the last week for our senior side, our schoolboy teams have been busy the last number of weeks preparing for kick off for the new season.
Our u11 squad are back with a number of weeks under the watch of Kevin Kennedy, John Hearne and Pat Walsh. They will play a number of friendlies over the next couple of weeks before they start in mid September.
The u12 and u13 squads under Derek Tebay and Mick Conway respectively are preparing nicely with 2 strong squads assembled. U12s under Derek will play Ballyduff next Wednesday in preparation for next Saturday when they kick off their league campaign away to Kilmacow.
The u13s will kick off Monday evening against Piltown in Ashgrove but travel for a friendly tomorrow to play Peaumount in Dublin with a 1pm kick off. Manager Mick Conway has been busy securing new signings during the summer and is very hopeful that his squad will do well.
Our u14 squad coached by Richard Long and Karl Conway have worked very well in pre season with a number of good performances. Confidence is high as they get ready to kick off next Saturday away to St Paul’s. A big season coming for our underage set up and with our academy returning mid September, we are in for a busy year.

Mooncoin 2B challenge match
Mooncoin 2b challenge match-
An understrength Mooncoin side took to the road today and met a very impressive Ballyduff 1B squad. Ballyduff knocked in two before the half hour with little chances created by Mooncoin. The final 15mins of the half seen more inspiration and we finally got our foothold in the match. The second half was much livelier with mooncoin on top. Some nice build up play which ended with a ball in from Griffin for Synnott to scramled it over the line to match it 2-1. Ballyduff struck a shot from outside the box on the 65 minute mark which regained the two goal advantage. Ballyduff knock two more past Mooncoin in later stages to run out comfortable winners. Next up is Kilmacow on Wednesday. Kick Off 6:45pm.

Daily progress on the new ground
Daily progress on Suir Crescent is staggering with both banks disappearing under the watchful eye of Andrew Walsh.

Ground Transformed
With the quick no nonsense work of Declan Walsh and his team in Suir Crescent, the ground has been transformed in the last week with the drainage work starting shortly. To fund the ongoing works, we are launching our club app advertising banners. This will give businesses and tradespeople the opportunity to advertise on our club app, which can be downloaded in the Google play store or Apple play store. To advertise for the year it will give a local business an opportunity to reach everyone who downloads the app and with a press of a button on our app anyone can reach the businesses website or social media page . It’s as simple as that. Each business can use 6 push notifications in the year which will allow them to advertise instantly to all club app users that a discount deal they might be running or advertise what music is on their pub for the next few weeks for example. Any business people or tradespeople out there can contact the club Facebook page to find out more details. The committee will be visiting and calling on all local businesses over the next few weeks to showcase this great advertisement initiative which we hope people will embrace. Pictured is the few examples of some businesses who have already invested in this fundraising drive. Get that app downloaded people and start advertising.
