A tough evening at the office for this young group who held tight for 30 minutes but succumbed to a number of tidy finishes from Benfica before the break.
Second half saw a bit of an improvement for us but sloppy defending and good finishing saw the game out with a landslide victory for the league leaders.
A very flat disjointed display saw Park Rangers deservedly scoop all three points on offer this evening. Park Rangers took the lead on 15 minutes when a ball deceived a number of defenders and a cross/shot ended up in the back of the net.
We equalised on the half hour mark when Emily Blackmore tucked away a through ball from Sommer Grant.
Plenty chances came our way but unfortunately no goals. A soft free saw Park Rangers take the lead right on half time. Second half saw a number of chances come and go for both sides but no killer instinct.
We will be holding our AGM on Friday 21st of July in Suir Crescent at 7.30. We are always looking for new people to get involved with the club, be it in admin, coaching or helping around the ground. All are welcome to attend.
Our young ladies side look to build on last week’s win when they entertain Park Rangers in Suir Crescent tomorrow evening, kick off is 7pm and the girls would love as much support as possible.
Due to the weather forecast for Saturday, we have decided to cancel our Soccer Marathon and end of season awards presentation and will reschedule in due course.
Apologies for any inconvenience and we hope to see you all soon.
Our young side collected all three points on offer this evening against a very young Villa side.
A decent start saw us moving the ball well and we got our reward after a quick free kick by Becky Connaughton set Sommer Grant away and she stuck away her finish well.
Caoimhe Power was causing all sorts of problems with her pace and should have had a goal herself. Villa did create a few chances themselves but Becky Derwin was sharp between the sticks and commanded her area well. Second half saw a more settled performance with a number of opportunities stuck away with Caoimhe Power getting a well deserved goal and Ciara Corcoran got rewarded for her effort with a very good finish.
We saw out the remainder of the game but had a couple of scares with our crossbar being rattled late on. On to Park Rangers at home next week and an opportunity to build momentum.
An awful start by the girls had them playing catch up throughout. A very dubious penalty awarded to Bohs in the first minute after what seemed like a 50 50 challenge saw it 1 nil quickly.
A good finish by lightning quick Dungarvan girl Costin on the left wing for Bohs saw a second goal very quickly and we feared for our young side.
But they got a hold on things and Emily Blackmore controlled, turned and finished superbly to leave the Bohs keeper swiping at fresh air to make it 2-1.
Sloppy defending from a corner saw the third for Bohs before a 4th coming up to half time saw the game being put out of their reach and the second half was played at a slow pace with Bohs knocking in a few more.
A disappointing day for our young side but we had decent performances from Sadhbh Kirwan on goal and U14 defender Mollie Murphy the pick of our outfield players.
A slick Tramore outfit were clinical this evening and punished 4 defensive errors in the first half with good finishes.
Half time saw some serious soul searching for our young side and they put up a much better display in the second half creating lots of chances throughout but only had the one goal to show for it through Caoimhe Power who worked tirelessly throughout the game.
Tramore finished off some of their chances with well taken finishes. Overall a disappointing display by this young group who know themselves that they are much better than the scoreline suggests and we’ll take the positives from the second half in to next week .
