A tight affair up to the last few minutes saw the boys get the three points on offer. Emmet Cusack and Jamie Grace with a brace each secured the win. Tough start in this short season for a young side.
U11 D League Kilmacow 3 Mooncoin Celtic 2
Leading 2-1 heading in to the last two minutes and it looked like a derby win but Kilmacow had other ideas and deservedly took the three points on offer. Goals from Jim and Edmund but special mention to James on goal for a cracking display of goalkeeping throughout.
U11 F League Hibs 1 Mooncoin Celtic 6
The boys started very well this morning with Kieran on fire throughout and Henry and Billy also getting among the goals.
U11 E League Mooncoin 1 Tramore 5
A wet damp morning saw the slicker Tramore side capitalise on mistakes and we met a goalkeeper who would not be beaten in the second half and Kieran’s deflected effort was all we saw for our efforts. Early days and better times ahead for these boys.
U13A League Ferrybank 4 Mooncoin 0
First game on the bigger pitch saw us play second fiddle to Ferrybank and they deservedly took the three points on offer. Better days ahead for this squad who tend to take time to get moving in the league.
U13 D League Mooncoin 3 Villa FC 1
First game of the season in breezy conditions last Thursday evening saw three points secured by this side with goals from Tyler with two and Ted Mc securing the three points on offer.
U15 Boys Mooncoin Celtic 1 Park Rangers 2
Our u15 Boys kicked off our season at Suir Cresent against Park Rangers. Conditions were perfect for football and both teams were up for it from the kick off. We dominated most of the first half and our work was repayed when we took the lead thru Robbie Sutton on 28 minutes. We were unlucky not to be 2 up soon after when Robbie netted again to be ruled offside.
Second half Park Rangers got more involved but we were still creating chances to increase our lead and should’ve been out of sight when Park Rangers got an equaliser on 56 minutes. And disaster struck on 66 minutes when Park Rangers took the lead. 2 minutes later we had a second goal ruled out for a questionable offside(Where’s VAR when you need it π). A great effort by all of the 15 boys that took to the pitch today, we seemed a little game rusty but we deserved at minimum a draw from this game. We’ll dust ourselves down and onto to the next one we’ll go.

Without the above generosity the day could not have been such a success with marquee, toilets, music, bar, tuck shop, DJ and all the little things that made it so special. We are so grateful for your support π π
It is amazing to see people get behind this special cause for something so dear to Mooncoin Celtic AFC women’s team and it will ever be forgotten, it was the first time organising an event like this so again thank you all so much for the support π π π
