Ladies FAI Shield: Mooncoin Celtic 2 – 3 Carrick United

Our young ladies side came very close this morning to causing a little upset.

A very tight game was edged out in the last few minutes after a right ding doing battle. A soft effort resulted in an early lead for Carrick but our girls stuck to their task and forced a defensive mistake and an OG to pull level. 1 all at half time.

We took an early lead in the second half through the excellent Laura Power knocking home after a scramble in defence. From here we battled away holding carrick out and also creating numerous chances throughout the second half. A corner was to result in Carrick’s equaliser being knocked home with 6 minutes left and within minutes they broke away to knock home the winner after we went close ourselves.

A cruel end to an entertaining game where all our girls gave everything. Pick of the bunch today were Becky Connaughton, Sarah Corcoran and Laura Power.

Last Man Standing Update

52 left standing heading in to today’s fixtures, 30 have dropped already today thanks to Chelsea, Brighton, Fulham and Brentford not winning.

14 have made it through to Week 4 thanks to City, Arsenal and Bournemouth victories.

We have 6 on West Ham tomorrow and 2 on Spurs on Monday night.
Best of luck to all remaining entries.

Last Man Standing

Matches on Sunday

The weather has been poor with many weeks with little or no action taking place, but we can tell you tomorrow that we have two fixtures in Suir Crescent taking place.

11am kick off for our Ladies team in the FAI Shield Preliminary round against Carrick United, while at 3.30 our youths will host Villa in their first league outing since the leagues split and they will hope to start with a win.
Fine weather is forecast so please get out and support our teams tomorrow.

Academy u8s and u9s playing with smiles today

The weather may have stopped all schoolboys fixtures today but not our u8 and u9 boys.

Carrick United were hosts this morning for a bundle of games with plenty goals, saves, tackles, a few tears and plenty smiles afterwards.

Massive thanks to Keith, Philip and all Carrick coaches and also our own coaching team. 👏👏👏

U14B Girls League: Mooncoin Celtic 4 – 0 Carrick United

It was great to get back on home soil for a game after a long run of away games, and also back to winning ways for our u14 white team.

The girls played their best game of the season from a passing perspective, controlling the game from start to finish. Four brilliant moves finished off by Lexi Walsh with 2, Sophie Phelan and Anna Reddy.

Our defence and keeper held concentration throughout to keep a clean sheet at the other end. Well done girls.

Ladies Friendly: Kilkenny Interleague 5 – 0 Mooncoin Celtic

On a tougher schedule than a World Cup and another physical test for our young side who battled throughout against a very good Kilkenny side managed by Frank Begley.

A solid start saw us match the home side for the first 25 minutes before a very good finish saw Kilkenny take the lead. A couple of lapses in concentration cost us dearly as the more experienced side knocked in three more before half time.

We gathered ourselves at the break and came out much brighter and played some nice football in the second half making 8 changed along the way to get vital experience in to our young side.

Some great displays tonight by Grace O’Toole on goal, Ciara O’Keeffe and Amy Lehane done very well in defence and Becky Connaughton was the pick of the midfield bunch.

Two big tests in two days for this group with lots of positives taken by all involved yesterday against Forth Celtic and tonight against Kilkenny. Great work ladies, keep it up ⚽⚽⚽⚽.

Waterford u16 Girls Development squad update

Congratulations to our three girls on duty today with the Waterford u16 Development squad in the U16 All Ireland Quarter final against Kildare in Connors Park.

Well done to Aoibhe Rees, Ella Brennan and Emily Blackmore who all played their part in a comprehensive 6 – 0 win with one Emily Blackmore netting four goals⚽⚽⚽⚽.

Well done ladies and best of luck in the semi finals.
