U15c Boys: Piltown 0 – 5 Mooncoin Celtic

Game day 6 this weekend for the U15 boys as they headed for a short trip to neighbours Piltown. A late kick off meant a first game under lights for most involved.

This was a game we controlled from the off and a dominant first half saw us go in 4 up at the break.

The second half was a tighter affair but our lads saw it out to the final whistle.

Goals Robbie x2,Jamie, Aidan, Anil
This was a great squad performance, special mentions for Robbie,Aidan and the entire defence which were outstanding .

€58,000+ Sports Capital Grant secured by Mooncoin Celtic

The Minister for Sport Catherine Martin and Minister of State for Sport Jack Chambers today announced details of the largest sports capital grant in the history of the State. Mooncoin Celtic secured €58,806 towards pitch development & equipment for its new pitches in Suir Crescent.

This will enable to club to install led floodlights at Suir Crescent thereby enabling all of its squads to train there over the winter months. It will also provide for dugouts and additional storage facilities, which are very much needed.

The ongoing development of Suir Crescent has been made possible by grants such as this and the support of all of our investors in the 300 Club. A huge thank you goes to everyone who played a part, big or small, in this funding application and in all our other fundraising initiatives.

The future for Mooncoin Celtic is very bright thanks to our players, parents, club officers, committee members and everyone who supports the club in any way. Great progress is being made on and off the pitch.

U17 Girls: Mooncoin Celtic 2 – 1 Villa

Proudly sponsored by TD Tiling.

Blustery Conditions set the scene for today’s Clash with The Villa . With the strong winds dictating a lot of the play . But both teams adapted well and really got into the swing of things.

Mooncoin drew first blood and went 1 nil up after 20 minutes , an Ella Bailey clearance up the line , was taken in By Casey Moore who travelled up the line , getting a pass away To Emily Blackmore who rounded a Villa defender and took a shot finishing to the back of the Net .

Villa quickly reacted and played some very good attacking football, But A very Solid Ciara O Keeffe stood in their way , and did an amazing job clearing any advancing threats .

Casey Moore’s work rate in the Middle of the field was phenomenal and Alongside Sommer Grant, both ladies imposed themselves on the opposition getting plenty of Ball foward to our Strikers

Ten minutes to go Villa got a break and looked to be heading for an eagerly awaited equaliser, But a quick thinking Sadhbh Kirwan came off the Goal Line and extinguished the chance .

With Five on the Clock , Aoibhe rees won a ball in the middle of the pitch , laying it off to Sommer Grant , before making the run towards the bottom corner , Sommer took it forwards before laying it back to Aoibhe , Who crossed the ball across the face of goal after Spotting Emily Blackmore , who finished to the net .

Villa pulled a goal back with a couple if minutes on the Clock . But Mooncoin dug deep and saw the game out 2-1 to Mooncoin today

Best of luck Mooncoin to All Ireland glory
