Mooncoin Celtic has a long standing tradition of hosting Womens teams in the club and that tradition was reignited today with our academy girls heading to Piltown to make their debut against the Piltown girls academy.
Great performances by both clubs as over 30 girls between the 2 clubs put on a great show despite the damp conditions.
Big thanks to Piltown for hosting us.
Tomorrow: Academy girls away to Piltown, kick off 10.15
A little bit of history being made in the morning as our academy u8 girls play their first game as a girls only team. Hopefully this will be the start of something big as the girls show as much enthusiasm as the boys.
U11 Blue home to Seaview Celtic, kick off 10.30.
U11 Orange home to Park Rangers, kick off 12.15
It seems like an eternity since both these squads played and the weather has been very poor to even train. Hopefully tomorrow will kick-start both squads for the rest of the season.
U13 away to Park Rangers, kick off 10.30
Again, a long time since these boys kicked a ball and returned to training this week so they are as eager as ever and will look to build on recent good performances.
Sunday: 4th division away to Kilmacow, kick off 11am.
A local derby is just the ticket for the golden oldies who will look to consolidate their top half position with 3 points.
Youths away to Bohs B, kick off 2pm.
This squad have been very consistent the last couple of months and put in a very solid performance in the friendly last Sunday against Kilmacow. The change in effort and attitude will stand to the boys as they head into the plate section where 5 wins will see them top the plate section. No pressure. Best of luck to all sides and as always support for all teams is most welcome.

4th division away to Kilmacow, kick off 11am
Youths away to Bohs B, kick off 2pm
A good blow out for our youths in an entertaining game against our near neighbours. Daniel Fewer Ward with the goal in a very good team performance. The boys start their league plate away to Bohs B next Sunday afternoon. Thanks to Kilmacow for travelling over and the best of luck to them in their quest for league honours.
We welcomed Piltown academy u9s down to Ashgrove for a wee blitz to kick start the new year. Cold as it was, over 40 kids from both clubs put on a great show with goals flying in by the bucket load. Big thanks to Eddie and the lads for the games and also to parents of all the kids for braving the cold.
Tomorrow, unfortunately all schoolboy games have been cancelled due to the recent wet weather.
Our academy u9s will play Piltown at 3pm in Ashgrove in a series of games. A must watch if anybody fancies watching the future stars of the club.
Sunday, 2b home to Dungarvan Celtic, kick off 11am. After reaching top of the league at Christmas, the boys will aim to continue their good run but won’t be taking anything for granted against an improving Dungarvan Celtic team . There is sure to be a little rustiness but fingers crossed the turkey and ham won’t hold up the lads.
Youths friendly at home to Kilmacow, kick off 2pm. A good blow out required for the youths who restart their league program next weekend against Bohs. A massive break since their last run out will not help but training went well during the week so the cobwebs should be gone for this friendly derby.
Best of luck to all sides, support is most welcome as we start our 50th year on the playing field.
2017 turned out to be a historic year for the club with a new home back in the village secured for future generations.
The FAI led by John Delaney visited the ground in July and later that month Declan Walsh and sons started work at a wicked pace. Unfortunately the weather stopped the lads in their tracks but come March/April 2018, work will resume and fingers crossed with drainage works complete, we should see grass growing and the new ground taking shape by late summer. This is the biggest development the club has taken on as we enter our 50th year and an exciting year lies ahead with a number of events planned to mark the clubs 50th anniversary and also a big fundraising push to cover the costs of the development works.
We take this opportunity to thank everyone for the good wishes throughout the year and wish all our players, coaches, sponsors, parents of all schoolboy players and supporters a happy new year and hopefully 2018 will be a great year for everyone.
The committee would like to wish all our players, coaches, parents of schoolboy players, our sponsors and supporters a very merry Christmas and best wishes to all for 2018.
