Park Rangers vs Mooncoin Celtic FC

Our 4th division side again led by JJ Holden and Froggy start their season this evening with a nice long spin out to Faithlegg to face Park Rangers with the game kicking off at 6.30. After a decent showing last season, the golden oldies have added a few signings which will hopefully help during the season when the bones and muscles start aching. A decent pre season with a few valuable games played have the lads primed for action. Fingers crossed we get a good start and if anybody has a few hours to spare, pop out to support them. Best of luck to the lads for the season.

It was always going to be a tough start to this year’s campaign away to a tidy Rangers team who we managed 2 draws against last season but it was Rangers who took all the spoils today, coming out 2-0 winners with a goal midway through the first half and late in the second half sealing a well deserved win for the home side with the lads not testing the keeper a whole lot. Only one winner here. Next up is Dunmore at Home Sunday morning at 11 a.m and hopefully a better performance from the lads Sunday morning.

Mooncoin Celtic FC vs Waterford Crystal

Our 2b side kick off their league campaign tomorrow evening at home in what is sure to be a tough encounter against Waterford Crystal who always produce footballing sides. After a good pre season with plenty of game time under their belts the lads will be hoping for a good start. Kick off is 6.30, your support is most welcome for this squad.

Communication, organisation and team spirit was on display tonight as Mooncoin saw off a decent Crystal side on the opening day of the season. This is the first time in the last 5 seasons that the clubs first team has won there opening fixture so hopefully a good omen . Goals from Synnott and Kevin Walsh before the half hour mark gave Mooncoin a comfortable advantage. The last 15 minutes of the half was all Crystal but never threatened O`Keeffe on the goal. Mooncoin sat deep for the first 10 minutes of the second half until they once again got their foothold in the game. There was few chances in the second half with Mooncoin showing much resilience throughout. Late on Hennebry found himself one on one but failed to convert. A good opening day win for Mooncoin who hope to continuously improve as the weeks go on. Next up, Tramore Rangers away on Sunday @ 11:00am. TEAM: O’Keeffe, Dalton, Tobin, C O’Hanlon, Kelly, Savauge, O’Brien, R Walsh, Hennebry, Synnott, K Walsh. SUBS USED: J Griffin, J O’Hanlon, E Walsh, L Walsh, C Walsh.
