Youth B Cup Champions ???
Monthly Archives: May 2018
Fixtures for the weekend
With our u12 squad playing yesterday and our u14 squad playing Monday, there will be no fixtures tomorrow. But Sunday is a biggy for the club with our Youths heading to Ozier Park to play league winners Ballinroad in the Cup final with a kick off time of 11am.
The club last played in this youth cup final back in 2015 when Adam Mansfield’s double beat Ballinroad to clinch the cup. Ballinroad had already won the league that year aswell so maybe it’s an omen for Sunday.
The youths started out this season under the watch of the late Rocky and he handed over the baton in October when this squad were at a crossroads of either jacking it in or digging in and showing their true potential. John Ryan, Patrick Dobbyn and Ethan Ryan have taken this squad on from October and transformed the attitude and work rate within the squad which has them primed for Sunday’s game. They’ve trained all winter in horrendous conditions even when there was no games. To keep that kind of commitment up even when results weren’t great is testament to the players and management. It will be a massive game on Sunday with the late Rocky hopefully working his magic from above.
The lads would love your support in Ozier Park on Sunday morning at 11am. The very best of luck to both players and management.
Also best of luck to all the kids making their communion in Mooncoin and surrounding areas tomorrow
U12 result: Mooncoin Celtic 0 Ballyduff 0
A very entertaining scoreless draw. Chances a plenty for both sides but no joy when it came to finishing. The lads unfortunately missed a penalty in the second half aswell. A few dodgy refereeing decisions dampened the game but a draw was a fair result. We won’t hold it against the man in the middle, who was doing his first ever game and after years of terrorising refs himself, he saw the game from a different light. Big thanks to Thomas o Brien for stepping up to the plate and taking the whistle for the evening.
4th division cup result: Mooncoin Celtic 1 Park Rangers 1, (Mooncoin Celtic win 5-3 on penalties)
Mooncoin Celtic win 5-3 on penalties.
The penalty kings march on after a 1-1 draw against Park Rangers. A glorious evening for soccer and lads created from the off with Neville Synnott heading home a delivery from Froggy. For some reason a penalty was awarded to Park Rangers after Daragh Beagan came off his line but took the forward out 5 yards outside the area. Park Rangers converted to tie the game but it only looked like the lads were going to win it. On to penalties where, Chopper, Gerry Walsh, Mickey Comerford, Scoby(yes he did score his penalty tonight) all scored before Spud buried the winning penalty to set up a semi final date with Southend next Tuesday in ozier park at 7pm.
u11s travelled to Annestown
Our u11s travelled to Annestown yesterday evening and played two brilliant games with the wind being a big factor, one game showing a gutsy, never say die attitude performance while the other game was a fantastic display of soccer from a bunch of young lads. It was a joy to watch and even missing a lot of older players they performed excellently.
U14 result: Mooncoin Celtic 7 St Saviour’s 0
A one sided game with an early hat trick from Aaron Mcloughlin putting the game to bed. Kieran Fagan continued his good run with a hat trick aswell and Daire Donohue also notched.
Well done boys great result
Fixtures for the week
Today: U11 away to Seaview Celtic, kick off 7pm.
This squad travel to Annestown for what will probably be their last game of the season. Great progress made by them since the start of the season. This squad will go on to challenge for leagues in the years to come.
U14 home to St Saviour’s, kick off 6.30
On a good run at the moment and with the cup coming up they will be looking to keep momentum up by securing 3 points.
Tomorrow: 4th Division cup quarter final, home to Park Rangers, kick off 6.30.
A semi final spot in ozier park should be incentive enough for this squad as they aim for cup glory.
Thursday: U12 home to Ballyduff, kick off 7pm
After three single goal defeats in a row and pushing the top two teams to the limit, this squad are going to seriously demolish a team soon. Playing lovely football which is sure to be rewarded.
Support is most welcome for all teams.

Youth B cup semi final result: Villa 0 Mooncoin Celtic 0 (Mooncoin Celtic win 4-2 on Penalties)
Mooncoin Celtic win 4-2 on Penalties
Little to separate these sides from the off with our lads creating the better chances and probably should’ve won it in normal time but it wasn’t to be. On to the dreaded penalty shoot out where hero of the day Daragh Murphy done the business and saved two Villa penalties to send the boys through to the final where they will meet Ballinroad or DLS on Monday week. Massive well done to both players and management. Their efforts from the training ground over the winter are being rewarded.
News from Kerry
A busy day in Kerry today where Waterford girls U12 squad played in a 5 team group with Wexford, South Tipp, Kerry and Cork. A draw, a win and 2 defeats for Waterford but a good day was had by all with plenty learned. The win against South Tipp saw one Emily Blackmore score a screamer in a 2-1 win.
