After a break of nearly 3 weeks this team were raring to get back on the pitch. Most notable players of the game were Stephen Brennan who put in a superb performance on the left wing and had the beating of his marker every time he received the ball and Anthony Dunphy who was switched to left back and put in a player of the match performance. We dominated the first half with most of the possession but were kept to only testing the opposition keeper from distance. 0-0 at half-time. Ballyduff got lucky in the second half as there only chance of the game seen them go 1-0 up. Last season this goal would have seen the heads drop but the lads stayed strong and kept creating chances and dominating possession. Sherwan picked up a ball inside the box and showed some serious skill sending his defender the wrong way but his shot went over the crossbar. With a few minutes to go we got a free kick on the edge of the box up steps Jake Moore, the ball was sailing into the goal only for the Ballyduff keeper to pull off a great save. Another free kick from Jake on the left side seen his shot headed off the line and Ballyduff defence scramble to get the ball away. I would also like to note that Jake was still playing in goal for both of his free kicks. The result doesn’t reflect the performance the lads put in and it will only be a matter of time before they get the first 3 points of the season.
Player of the match was Anthony Dunphy.

U15C league result: Tramore B 1 Mooncoin Celtic 4
A great performance from the squad again today against a dogged Tramore team who were hard to break down. Scorers for ourselves were Rudi, Kieran, Rizgar & Ryan O’Grady. Man of the match goes to the ever consistent Luke Ramasawmy. Two wins from two games, solid start. Well done boys.
Fixtures for the weekend
Tomorrow: U11 home to Piltown, kick off 10.30
A lot of kids in this group will make their debuts tomorrow in this non competitive league. John Hearne and his crew have been busy with a few weeks preparing the group with big numbers training.
U13 home to Ballyduff, kick off 12.30
Derek’s squad will look to bounce back after the defeat to Kilmac in their first outing. Again, preparation has gone well with big numbers training weekly.
U15A away to Tramore B, kick off 4.30
The lads would have been disappointed to see their game in Ferrybank cancelled yesterday but they can turn their attention to Tramore very quickly and hopefully get another three points on the board after a comfortable win against Kilmac in their first game.
Sunday: Munster youth cup: Youths away to St Paul’s, kick off 2pm
After last Sundays impressive win at home to the Glass, the boys will travel to the Moon in confident mood as they look to get a run going in this competition.
Best of luck to all teams and support is most welcome for them all.
4th division result: Dunmore 2 Mooncoin Celtic 2
After three stop start games, the golden oldies flew out of the traps when a deflection from a Mick Dwyer effort and a Shane Twomey tap in had them 2 up and coasting after 15 minutes but a silly goal on 20 minutes left dunmore back in it.
The second half saw plenty openings at both ends but no goals until 2 minutes from full time an equalizer was forced after some slack defending. An improved performance but unfortunately not the result to match it.

Youths result Mooncoin 4 waterford crystal 1
Today was a patchy performance …both teams missed plenty of chances throughout the game..we went 1 up after the keeper fumbled a cross and dropped it over the line…we went 2 up after a super cross from Dylan Harrington was dispatched by james delahunty with power and precision to rattle the net…the game got scrappy for long periods and we switched off to concede a soft goal just before half time… 2-1 at the half.
Second half was a scrappy affair where we were second best for much of it …but we scored a 3rd with 15 mins to go through great combination of passes between Lee Tracey and Conor Stacey with Lee just beating the keeper to nudge it over the line…
Fourth goal was the highlight of the game when the ball rolled to Conor Stacey on the edge of the box he flicked it up with his right foot and volleyed it into the roof of the net with his left via the cross bar.
Showed plenty character when game wasn’t going our way to dig a result out …
Well done lads
2A result Dunmore 2 Mooncoin 0
Very disappointing result today , not the finishing scoreline but the fact we dominated the game and still came away with a loss . A great game on our part passing the ball , attacking well and hunting down the opposition when they had possession.
We had the majority of play in the first half apart from 10 mins with every1 working tirelessly . We had a couple of chances but into the break 0-0. We started the 2nd half in the same vain , but on 58mins against the run of play .
Derek came to punch ball away from a corner but got there late , the ball flicked off his hand to a Dunmore players head an in the net .
We pushed hard for an equaliser , our defence strong , midfield spraying the ball and attaching , and our strikers running Dunmore defence all over . But from a corner which ross o keeffe nearly scored Dunmore broke quick down the left side , squared the Ball and finished 2-0.
Most would have accepted defeat but the lads played even better the last 20 minutes , swinging in crosses from left and right . We peppered their box ross o keeffe going close a couple of times , johnny kav , chris Barnes and bunny also with chances but it wasn’t to be .
Another defeat but the performance that was put in from the whole team and 3 subs deserved at least a point . A lot of positives to take and if today was anything to go by the results will start coming . Well done lads heads up ??

WSFL Under 14 C league Mooncoin Celtic 4 vs Tramore C 0
Great start to the season for the under 14 team with two wins out of two. Solid performance full of grit seen us take all 3 points. Great to see a full squad. Tramore started strong and physically gave us a huge challenge today and came knocking on the door on many occasions. But a resilient Mooncoin defence kept them at bay. Liam Hogan and Alex Bailey were immense and didn’t leave anyone through when challenged at Centre back. Ciara O’Keeffe put in a good performance at right back. Conor Dermody at left back was very solid and used his strength against a towering attack. Centre Midfield was where a lot of this game happened today and Adam Conway fought for everything today aided by Lee Freyne who put in a man of the match performance. Our first goal was from the penalty spot where Lee scored the first of his hat trick today. Brian Dunphy latched onto a pass from Tom Conway for the second goal. Lee Freyne scored two beautiful free kicks to take the game away from Tramore. Sam Hartwell was very effective again on the right wing and Eoin O’Callaghan linked well with Brian Dunphy all day. Mikey Cronin came on at right back and played well. Mike O’Keeffe & Daniel Roberts came on late in the game and added great pace to it. Other subs today were Denis Kinsella, Matthew Morahan, Aaron Fewer & Patrick Dermody. It’s great to have such a big squad and with 18 more games to play there will be loads of games for everybody. Great squad and a great result! Well done everyone!
Fixtures for Weekend
Tomorrow, u14 at home to Tramore C, kick off 11am
This squad had a great opening victory and will look to build on it against a Tramore side who are sure to be a stern test.
2A away to Dunmore, kick off 2pm
After two defeats on the spin this squad will be looking for a big performance to kick-start their season. Only 5 months have passed since they clinched the 2B league so they haven’t turned into a bad side overnight. Belief in each other and discipline will be key in what will be a tough encounter at the seaside.
Sunday: 4th division away to Dunmore, kick off 11am
Another trip to the seaside for the club as the oldies look to put in a decent performance. Big numbers continue to train which is bound to see this team clicking, when is the question?
Youths home to Waterford Crystal, kick off 2pm
The youth squad will look to build on a strong performance against Tramore Rangers and secure another three points. Training again in big numbers will see rewards as this squad is littered with talented youngsters.
Support as always is most welcome for all teams especially our kids.
