Celebration/appreciation party for Vicky Phelan

IMPORTANT NOTICE
This Friday evening there is a celebration/appreciation party for Vicky Phelan being held in Mooncoin Parish Hall from 7.30-9pm. This gathering gives the people of Mooncoin the chance to come and acknowledge the great work Vicky has done as part of the Cervical Cancer Campaign and also to wish her well. Refreshments will be served on the night and everyone is welcome to attend so please share this post and have a big crowd there to give Vicky the appreciation she so richly deserves.
As our club was founded by Vicky’s two uncles Matty and Ned Kelly, we encourage all our members to attend this event and show our support to Vicky.

U15 Result: Mooncoin Celtic 4 Tramore 0

The lads played their final league game of the season and clinched the three points. Rudi gave them the lead with a neat finish with Kieran Fagan netting another two before half time. Kieran completed his hat trick early in the second half to finish the scoring. The lads have finished with 37 points from 16 games. This total may not be enough with St Paul’s and Kilmacow still to play games, waiting game starts now. Man of the match tonight was Adrian Daly for an all action performance.

Unwanted visitors

Last night we had 4 or 5 unwanted visitors at our new development in Suir Crescent where a small fire was started at the side of the old dressing rooms and also a large number of stones were thrown out on to the proposed playing pitches and also at neighbouring properties in Suir Crescent, along with empty alcohol cans being dumped . Thankfully, a number of residents were vigilant enough to contact both the club and the gardai before any further damage was done.
The culprits, both male and female and aged 15-17, fled the scene towards the Grange road once the gardai arrived. This development is a work in progress and all going well it will be open for use this time next year. We would ask all to respect the new development at all times and also ask all parents to bring this incident to the attention of their teenage kids to make them aware of such goings on. We ask all people to share this post and show people what some teenagers get up to on a Sunday night.
Big thanks to the residents in Suir Crescent for their help both last night and today.

Waterford u12 girls squad

Big well done to the Waterford u12 girls squad who performed brilliantly in a tournament in Cork today in scorching conditions. A special well done to our own Mia Ponce De Leon who done really well and kept two clean sheets.

WSFL Under 14c League Abbeyside 0 vs Mooncoin Celtic 5

Great result today to bounce back after our last defeat. We never gave Abbeyside a chance from the off and if they had two chances all game that was a lot. Some great passing movement down the left hand side in particular. Sam Hartwell is loving being back after injury and netted 4 of the goals today. Alex Bailey and Liam Hogan were instrumental in the making up of all those goals. We were rock solid at the back today with Ciara O’Keeffee, Tom Conway, Mikey Cronin & Denis Kinsella winning every battle that came their way. Lee Freyne passing the ball is the key to all this and he did very well going forward. Lee scored a great penalty today giving the keeper no chance. Conor Dermody & Eoin O’Callaghan Played on the wings and gave Abbeyside a nightmare all day… Adam Conway in goal wasn’t really threatened but did make two good saves. Emily Blackmore and Daniel Roberts got and both got stuck in played really well. Another 3pts today on top of 3 given next week. We are really looking forward to a run in the upcoming cup!! Well done everyone!

Fixtures for tomorrow

U11 away to Park Rangers, kick off 7pm
U15 home to Tramore, kick off 6.30
Final league fixtures for both sides with our u15s still on top but other teams still have games to play.
Our u11s have had a really good year improving every game under the watchful eye of John Hearne and his fellow coaches.
Support as usual would be most welcome.

LMS Update

With the final four falling last week, we go again this week which is week 9. Two are on the ever consistent Man Utd, one on Southampton and the last on Burnley. Surely we’ll get a winner today!

U14 Girls Result: Mooncoin Celtic 0 Lismore 6

We welcomed league leaders Lismore to a sun drenched Ashgrove this evening and the girls were eager to put Wednesdays performance behind them. A little shake up with the line up seemed to freshen things up with Emily Blackmore starting between the sticks and Mia Ponce de Leon leading the line upfront. For 45 minutes the girls stood toe to toe with Lismore and limited them to very few chances with the back four solid throughout and if it was breached, Emily was out on it very quickly. A lobbed effort on 25 minutes had Lismore leading 1-0 at half time.
The second half started in a similar fashion with the girls getting stuck in and forcing Lismore back with a couple of chances coming from corners which Ciara O’Keeffe delivered but a solid Lismore defence were tough to break down. With the girls tiring and changes being made, leaders Lismore showed their class with a few great goals. Not the result we wanted but probably one of the best performances put in all season. With all bar one underage again next season, this squad will use the experience from this season to great effect. Big thanks to referee Noel Lavery for his usual encouragement for both teams and also to Lismore for a very sporting game.
