School Boys/Girls and Junior League Football in South Kilkenny
The most anticipated game in a very long time takes place this weekend …. and all here at Mooncoin Celtic are buzzing. A top of the table U16 home tie against Piltown, were the winners take a league title and some bragging rights for the summer.
This should be a great game, so warm up your vocal chords people, come decked out in green and roar the home team on.
All roads lead to the Grove on Saturday, 3:30pm.

So the Euro’s are at the Semi-Final stage and we have a very interesting scenario emerging from the MCFC Euro Prediction competition.
While no one named all four semi-finalist, there is 1 person that named 3 of them and they have a nice lead in the competition. However that same person cannot get much from “Predict the total goals” nor “Name the top goalscorer” and so the 4 people chasing are in with a big shout to take home the prize money, which stands at over €350.
The majority of chasers are not really looking for more goals, but if Harry Kane was to score 2 more, or Ciro Immobile was to score 3 then it would make the final prediction table a really close run competition.

With 32 players at the u12 level this year, the coaches have brought all the players together in teams of 8 and will play off a mini Spring league in Mooncoin.
The players get to pick their team name and there are lovely trophies up for grabs. Big thanks to the kind sponsorship of H.R. Delahunty Solicitors, without this support we simply couldn’t put the tournament together.
On Thursday night we got off to a flyer with a great turnout and the Clogga Cluchies narrowly defeating Les Blues 6-4.
Next week will see the Hillbillies take on K.F.C

Some of our coaches all dressed up for the coaches/committee Christmas night.
Congratulations to our u16 coach Victor Bailey who has been appointed the head coach of the Waterford U12 Girls Development squad for the coming season. Victor,along with Richard Long and Miguel Ponce de Leon have been busy climbing the coaching ladder over the last twelve months and recently completed their D License.
Brilliant achievement for Victor to get this appointment and he has not stood still, with trials starting in the new year he has added the experienced Sarah Corcoran to the coaching team. Sarah has been a revelation in our girls section since joining last summer. Brilliant to have two club coaches involved with development squads. Best of luck to both Victor and Sarah for the coming season.
Two down after 15 minutes due to deflected long range effort and a scrappy free kick that wasn’t cleared, it looked like one of those days especially with the opposition talking about it finishing 10-0 and this only 15 minutes in.
But the lads dug in and dominated the next 75 minutes and were very unlucky not to go in at least level at half time but 2-0 it stood to Seaview.
JP Purcell pulled a goal back after good work by Eric Walsh just after the restart. A lovely little passage of play involving Niall Madden, Kevin Crowley and Jamie Moore saw a superb finish from Moore from all of 25 yards to level the game. The chances kept coming and eventually the pressure paid off when another attack starting deep in our own half saw James Blackmore slip Niall Madden in on the over lap to fire home the winner. We weathered the storm to see out the game. Good squad performance by all.
A deserved three points.
