A sunny but breezy evening in Ashgrove where Portlaw were the visitors but the lads kept their run going and secured the 3 points without getting in to 2nd gear. Portlaw with the wind took the lead but Kieran Fagan continued his scoring run with the equalizer before half time. The second half was poor enough with neither team creating much but with 10 minutes to go Alan Walsh scored a cracker from distance to get the lads ahead. A flurry of changes seemed to open up the game and Killian Horan sealed the points with a 25 yard rasper. Good performances throughout but special mention to the back 4, with Alex Bailey and Jack Brennan the pick of the bunch. St saviours at home next Wednesday, where they will look to continue this little run.

4th division league plate playoff final Result – Kilmacow 1 Mooncoin 0
Our veterans league campaign came to a close tonight in ozier Park but it wasn’t for the lack of trying . We had the possession advantage in first in a very hard fought game but both defences were very good , our best chance falling to scoby who pulled a shot just wide . But at half time it was 0-0 and all to play for .
We started the better in the second half but again both defences were tight , with legs getting tired a few changes were made and we picked up the tempo . With penalty’s looking like the only outcome with 5minutes to go . Kilmacow got a throw on the right hand side , a player was not picked up and skipped past 2 players and played across the box for kilmacow to score what was to be the winning goal.
From kick off a defensive error put us on the back foot but after a great last gasp tackle to everyone’s shock the ref pointed to the penalty spot . Justice was served when Barry Hearn saved the resulting penalty brilliantly .
We threw everything at kilmacow the last few minutes with a couple of close shaves from corners but it wasn’t to be . But it was a brilliant second half of the season from this squad , well done to all .
In the first half a kilmacow player suffered a nasty head injury we wish him all the best .
And last of all congratulations to Kilmacow on winning the plate .
Youth B Cup result: Kilmacow 2 Mooncoin Celtic 3
An absolute cracker of a cup tie was played this evening in the sports complex in Kilmacow. Two soft goals conceded in the first half by the lads looked like that was that and season was over but the heart shown by all the team was a sight to behold. Martin O’Neill started the comeback back to 2-1 , a goalmouth scramble saw the equalizer forced home(scorer unknown) 2-2 , and with 10 minutes to go Martin O’Neill popped up with the winner. Hats off to the never say die attitude shown by the boys this evening. Semi final to be played this Sunday in Ozier Park at 2pm against the Villa. Before the game, a minutes silence was observed in memory of Bob Croke who passed away yesterday. Condolences to the Croke family and to the community of Kilmacow during this sad time.

U13 result: St Paul’s 7 Mooncoin Celtic 1
After the good away win last week, this squad were back down to earth with a bump against an impressive Paul’s team on Thursday evening. 3 early goals finished this as a contest with the lads chasing from the off. Sam Hartwell did pull a goal back but St Paul’s were just too strong. A couple of league games remain for this squad before they start their cup campaign.
U11s played Ballyduff
U11s played Ballyduff in Ashgrove Thursday evening and put on a great show even though they were missing a number of players. Goals galore from both clubs with bags of skill and talent on display.
U12 result: Mooncoin Celtic 0 Kilmacow 1
Kilmacow arrived in Ashgrove this morning expect to keep touch with leaders Seaview but got one hell of a fright against a depleted u12 squad. Many u11s stepped up and did not disappoint as they bombarded Kilmacow in the 2nd half. At one stage the 9 on the pitch consisted of just 2 u12s, 6 u11s and some u10. Happy coach who will look forward to the upcoming cup very confident. Great performance, where Kilmacow snatched the derby win.
U14 result, Mooncoin Celtic 2 Tramore B 1
Brilliant performance & win from the lads today ! due to a number of players absent, three U13s got the call up Alex Bailey, Adam Conway & Sam Hartwell & by god did they answer ! With only minutes gone Liam Quinn broke free from the defence & lobbed an oncoming keeper only to see it come back off the post, from that Mooncoin kept the pressure on Tramore and moments later Kieran went on one of his runs beating two defenders & a top class finish 1-0 Mooncoin, this seemed to wake up Tramore & half time couldn’t come fast enough as they started to get on top, Mooncoin started the second half with a few chances, but Tramore kept the pressure on and scored from a corner with 15 minutes left, as the clock wore down another draw was looking likely, until Sam Hartwell chased down a through ball his first touch was super and and his second even better 2-1 .Very impressive debut by the 3 lads .Man of the match Alex Bailey who could not have given any more, also Jack, Luke & Adrian never put a foot wrong . Great win.
