First game since October and considering the rain and wet conditions we started well even though we were missing 2 key players. Cathal Morahan opened the scoring with a superb goal. Villa got 2 back before half time and got 2 more in the 2nd half. Jay dunphy got a cracking goal to make it 2-4 at full time. Sophie Scahill was outstanding in defence today.
Big big thank you to Crokes Shop for kindly sponsoring after match food for our U14 girl’s who played Spa United in the SFAI Trophy.
Pictured above is John Croke with the girls and coaches. As always we ask all members to please support all local businesses where possible.
Today we had the mighty task of facing up to Villa A in Suir Crescent.
We asked the lads to embrace this fixture and work on our defensive game and try hold Villa, who we knew would try to play football for the whole 90mins.
The team applied themselves brilliantly throughout the game and only conceded two goals near the end.
Lots of positives from the game today and a few things to work on in training, we would be confident this group should do well in the coming months. All the team put in a big performance today but MOTM goes to Lee Freyne playing in a sweeper position for the first time.
A tough day at the office for the u17 girls today when we met Bohs in the top of the league clash.
There was nothing between the teams for the majority of the first half until Bohs put away a well worked goal.
Unfortunately in the second half we were well off the pace and Bohs capitalised on our mistakes with another 3 goals to win 4-0. A lot to be learned and taken from todays performance which we will take into our next match.
After over 2 months without a game it was time to blow off the cobwebs. Alexi Walsh opened the scoring on her U14 debut ably assisted by Síofra Crosse leaving Mooncoin 1 up at half time.
Ballyduff upped their game in the second half and equalised early on. Two further goals from Mooncoin through Ciara Lynch and some staunch defending resulted in a 3-2 win for the girls and three points.
A strong breeze was blowing throughout the game in Coolnamuck today with our boys having it behind them in the first half. A quick throw in released Will Doherty and he buried his chance with the Carrick defence caught off guard.
The second half was a different story with sleet falling throughout the second half along with the strong breeze but we weathered the storm throughout to clinch the three points in what is always a tough place to go.
A disappointing result for Jake Moore’s troops with the boys very very unlucky not to get a draw at the very least. One very legitimate goal was deemed not to have crossed the line while a blatant offside saw Ballyduff seal the game just as the lads were putting serious pressure on the home side.
Plenty of positives taken by the coaches regardless of the result. On to the next one.
It was always going to be one goal that settled this game and Thomastown were the ones who got it with a long distance free kick with 10 minutes left evading everyone to put Thomastown through.
A young Tramore team deservedly walked away with 3 points thanks to a late winner. Plenty opportunities for our boys to score throughout but not to be today.
Hats off to Tramore coaches Chris and John for playing sweepers afterwards and leaving the away dressing room spotless.
