What a week for Ethan Owens, a MCFC U12 player, as he spent some time of his mid-term break participating in the FAI Emerging Talent programme along with players from across Waterford, Kilkenny, South Tipp and WWEC leagues.
Then on Sunday he had a great performance against Kilkenny in an U12 Waterford development squad friendly game. This is a great achievement for Ethan and fair dues for all the hard work he’s put in over the last few years.
We are delighted to announce player development camps hosted in late April of 2022 in association with the Football Academy of Ireland.
There are limited places and so make sure to book a place for the Mooncoin Celtic camp asap on the website:
Latest newsletter from MCFC 27th Feb 2022
MCFC-Newsletter-27Feb22We visited a windy Park Rangers for gameweek 7.
The first quarter was an even affair with both teams finding their feet. We hit the front with a clever finish by Robbie which was the first of a first half hat trick.
Further goals from Canice and a fantastic solo effort from Marti had us 5.0 up at the break. We faced the wind in the second half but the lads kept going and were soon rewarded with a strike from Dani.
Billy soon added a fantastic long range effort which is becoming a regular occurance. Further strikes from Anil and Aidan saw us out comfortable winners with the defence also adding to their clean sheet tally.
Another great squad performance from this bunch which has them all improving week on week.
Goals Robbie x 3. Marti,Dani , Canice, Billy, Anil & Aidan.
Hard to pick anyone out today but special mentions for Robbie, Canice and entire defence.
MoM Marti.
A wet and windy morning saw our u11s travel to Kilmacthomas. Our back line of Padraig, Tadhg and Sean dealt admirably with a relentless Kilmac team early on however we eventually went a goal down after 20 minutes.
Fionn on goal made a couple of terrific saves to keep the scoreline down including one full stretch dive which looked to be heading for the far corner.
The midfield worked tirelessly throughout the half to protect their defence but couldn’t quite make the breakthrough at the other end. The second half saw a flurry of goals by Kilmac early on after a slow start but our boys recovered and were unlucky not to get something from the game against the only unbeaten team in the division.
Improving with every game however and on to DLS at home in a fortnight.
Another bit of good news landed in the post today with Kilkenny County Council granting us €2000 under the Community Activities Fund Grant scheme. This money will be used to further enhance our new grounds with defibrillator, bike racks, signage and field maintenance equipment.
This good news follows on from our recent successful Sports Capital Grant application where we received just under €59000 so not a bad couple of weeks.
None of these grants would have been successful without the support of everyone involved in the supporting of all our fundraising ventures.
Saturdays premier league matches have concluded and there are 51 fallers today, out of 156 entries, what will happen on Sunday ?
Congratulations to Ciara Holden, collecting her cheque for €386 as the first ever winner of the Mooncoin Celtic 50/50 Draw.
Our next Draw will be next weekend. Envelopes will be available at all training sessions and from local businesses.

Game day 6 this weekend for the U15 boys as they headed for a short trip to neighbours Piltown. A late kick off meant a first game under lights for most involved.
This was a game we controlled from the off and a dominant first half saw us go in 4 up at the break.
The second half was a tighter affair but our lads saw it out to the final whistle.
Goals Robbie x2,Jamie, Aidan, Anil
This was a great squad performance, special mentions for Robbie,Aidan and the entire defence which were outstanding .
