U14 Girls B League: Mooncoin Celtic win at Park Rangers

Our last league game of the season for our u14 white girls, and it did not disappoint. Ciara Lynch got the ball rolling with her first of the day. Leah Twomey who has excelled in just about every position this campaign added another, followed shortly by Ciara’s second. Lexi scored her first just before half time.

Park Rangers never dropped their heads and got two back, but Lexi put daylight between the sides again with her second of the day. Anna Reddy scored her customary goal with a superb half volley, giving the keeper no chance.

And for the second game in a row there was just enough time for Alexi to seal her hat trick. The goal scorers always get the plaudits but this is a team game and the whole squad have been excellent throughout our league campaign and remain unbeaten in our home ground of Suir Crescent.

U14D Boys League: Waterford Crystal 2 – 1 Mooncoin Celtic

The U14B team travelled to Crystal Park on Saturday afternoon. Very close game was played out.

Jay Dunphy put mooncoin ahead midway through the 1st half, but Waterford Crystal got an equaliser soon after.

Second half was tight we gave away a penalty in the 2nd half, which Crystal scored to give them the lead and win. Good performance by all on duty. Molly Murphy, Tom Cuddihy & Conor Holohan in particular played great.

U12C Boys League: Bohemians 4 – 0 Mooncoin Celtic

Seanie captained the lads for the early kick off in Ben Wadding Park. A sluggish start from the lads unfortunately saw them concede two avoidable goals in the first ten minutes.

They shored things up at the back thereafter but conceded from a free kick on the stroke of half time. In the second half they played far better and were unlucky not to score with a header from Tadhg.

Bohemians scored a fourth however to make it a day to forget. 4-0 final score to the home team. Credit to Tyler in the goal for his heroics particularly in the first twenty minutes.

3A League: Mooncoin Celtic 3 – 0 Kilbarry Rangers

After last week’s disappointing result in the cup against St Paul’s, the players wanted to right a few wrongs and did it very well.

From start to finish, they really performed as a team, giving title hopefuls Kilbarry no time at all to settle in to the game. A Jamie Moore free kick sent us on our way, quickly followed by a Ryan Carroll header and we could have been further ahead only for poor finishing. Second half saw similar effort and pressure from the boys and a Jason Sauvage long range effort finished the game as a contest.

Really good performance and end to the season by all on duty, Man of the match must go to Chris’Mick McCarthy ‘ O’Hanlon for his efforts throughout.

U11F Boys League: Mooncoin Celtic 2 – 3 Tramore

Eoin was captain for the day and led the boys into a pulsating match which saw Mooncoin dominate the early stages but the final ball was lacking despite their good build up play.

Tramore grew into it and were unfortunate not to score but for some brilliant goalkeeping from TJ with his hands and feet also. Tom hit a powerful shot from distance which the keeper managed to get both hands to. Rueben came in ten minutes before half time and linked up brilliantly with Billy only for the keeper to intercept the pass.

Tramore made the breakthrough on the stroke of halftime however with an unbeatable strike into the far corner. Some fresh legs came in the second half but Tramore went on the attack sending their forward through on goal but his well struck shot was somehow caught by Tom on the goal.

They followed up soon after with a second. Mooncoin got back into it with Billy haring down the left wing and his whipped cross was turned into the Tramore goal by their defender as he was running back. Shane showed great pace and endeavour down the right side as Mooncoin created chance after chance. Tramore got their third with a well taken volley which looped into the goal.

Mooncoin pressed on and Shane struck a brilliant goal after a goalmouth scramble. Billy hit the crossbar late on also but an equaliser never came in the end.

A heroic defeat for the boys who to a man played out of their skin today and scored two against the league leaders who up to now only conceded two all year. 3-2 the final score to the visitors.
