Weekly Round Up

With games coming thick and fast for all teams we’ll start with our Eastgate Engineering Dixie Dribblers Academy which was held in glorious sunshine and at last our kids got an Easter treat after a couple of weeks. Congratulations to the Eastgate Engineering player of the week winners, Ollie, Orlaith, Rian and Louis.

Goals from Seanie,Molly 2, Dionos and Tyler saw three good points secured.

Piltown 0
Mooncoin Celtic 1
A first half strike from Billy saw three points in the bag but not without a scare or two as Piltown were the better side throughout.

Carrick Utd 6
1-1 at half time with Oisin getting our goal set this game up for a big second half but that did not materialise as Carrick rattled in 5 without reply.

A scoreless first half saw a few shaky moments but goals from Ted,Shay and Tom M secured the points on Bank holiday Monday.

U16A Girls Cup Semi final
Villa 4
Mooncoin Celtic 1
A very poor first half saw villa 3 up at half time but a stern talk saw life injected in to the girls with Mollie pulling a goal back before we missed a penalty which would have given us a grandstand finish but villa notched their 4th with minutes to go.

U16B Girls
Mooncoin Celtic 2
Piltown 0
A first win for this group and richly deserved. Two goals from Rebecca saw three points on the board.

U11D League
Mooncoin Celtic 1
Waterford Crystal 0
A narrow win saw the lads take three points and finish in 3rd place and they’ll look forward to the cup after a decent league campaign. Oodhran got the winner yesterday.

U15 Boys
Mooncoin Celtic 2
Piltown 2
We welcomed piltown to Suir Crescent looking to maintain their 100% win record but the boys set out their stall from the off and Conor and Samuel with his first ever goal saw them lead but a long range free kick just before half time saw piltown go in to the second half in confident mood but the boys stood firm before a long range effort from piltown saw the points shared in an entertaining derby.

U14 Boys
Mooncoin Celtic 5
Ballyduff 2
The lads finished their league campaign with another win and will head in to the cup in confident mood.

3B League Result
Mooncoin Celtic 2
Villa 3
A very disappointing result where the lads will know they should have got the three points on offer. Two poor mistakes saw them two nil down before James Blackmore pulled a goal back with a penalty but another defensive lapse saw villa score but back we came with Adam Cunningham scoring and we still created chances to get a point but it wasn’t to be.

1B League Result
Waterford Crystal 0
Mooncoin Celtic 0
Two points definitely dropped here with plenty chances created but no finished product in front of goal with Tadhg Derwin, Stephen Wall, James Delahunty, James Blackmore,Danny West and Alex Kennedy all going close. Still unbeaten after 5 games and another clean sheet are the positives.

Final word to two of our goalkeepers who were representing Waterford recently. In a pre Gaynor cup tournament, Hannah Dobbyn was on duty in Clare where Waterford finished 5th of 12 teams in a very competitive competition.
Up in Sligo, Bradley Nolan kept goal in the U15 Development Final but unfortunately they were beaten 3 nil on the day.
Well done Bradley and Hannah, two keepers with big futures.

Hard Luck Girls

Unfortunately Waterford U14 Girls were defeated in their national shield final by a late winner for Cork Schoolgirls. Our own Hannah Dobbyn captained the side for the day and pulled off several top drawer saves including a world class save with her left leg late on.

BEST OF LUCK JP

We wish to share a bit of exciting news. Our club coach JP Byrne will be joining the coaching ranks with Waterford FC underage girls teams and all in Mooncoin Celtic wish this wonderful character the very best of luck in his new role. He has played a pivotal role in recent years with our girls teams and also with our current u15 boys team. His recruitment for his new role is well deserved as he has shown in all his roles with club and the Waterford u13 Girls Development squad that he has all the attributes to succeed at a higher level. As a club we are sad to lose a big personality , who was always willing to lend a hand with everything and anything over the years but as a club we are also mighty proud.

Best of Luck

Ahead of the new season, all in Mooncoin Celtic wish the very best of luck to our two former players Daniel Ponce de Leon and Ethan Owens and all Waterford FC Academy teams. Two talented boys with super attitudes, who both started off in our academy in 2015 & 2016 respectively and worked their socks off every week over the years to elevate themselves to League of Ireland Academy level.

Well done all

Well done to all four Waterford Schoolgirls Development Squads who were in action over the weekend with our own Molly Walsh involved in the Munster Trophy win with u13s in Limerick, Hannah Dobbyn was part of the victorious u14s at home to Louth in the All Ireland Shield semi final while Sophie Phelan was part of the U16 squad who unfortunately were beaten 2-1. Coaches JP Byrne and Ritchie Lynch are also part of the u13 coaching team.

Coaches JP Byrne and Ritchie Lynch are part of the u13 coaching team.   👏 Massive well done to all involved.

Well Done all

A massive well done to all involved in the four Waterford Schoolgirls Development squads who completed their group games over the weekend with our own Sophie Phelan at u16, Hannah Dobbyn at u14 was captain for the day against Kilkenny and Molly Walsh with u13s, all getting great experience throughout the group games. Well done also to JP Byrne and Ritchie Lynch who are part of the u13 coaching team.

Congratulations Bradley

Massive congratulations to our very own Bradley Nolan, who has been selected for this season’s Waterford u15 development squad . A top class goalkeeper with a superb attitude who leads in every single way in training and on match day and had been very busy in recent months training with our 1B squad and shadowing Eric Conway at every opportunity. A boy with a huge future and a role model for all our players, we are very lucky to have him within our club.

Good luck Daniel

The very best of luck to Waterford FC U15s who play Bohemians in the Shield Final tomorrow at 2pm in the SETU Arena. One of our own former academy players will be marshalling the midfield for Waterford and all in Mooncoin Celtic wish Daniel Ponce de Leon the best of luck. Daniel is the classic example of where hard work can get you once you put in the time and effort on the training ground. Daniel has been getting back to top form recently after a spell on the sidelines and produced a man of the match performance in the semi final against Dundalk. 🤞 For 🏆🥇 tomorrow evening.

Well done all

Massive well done to our three representatives in the Waterford Schoolgirls Development squads, Sophie Phelan at u16, Hannah Dobbyn at u14 and Molly Walsh at u13. All three played their first games recently and will fly the flag in future games. We also have JP Byrne and Ritchie Lynch involved as coaches with the u13 squad.
