Best of luck Waterford Girls u13 and u15 squads who play Kerry in Carriganore at 2pm today with Ciara O’Keeffe and Emily Blackmore representing the club. Best of luck girls.
U11s Blitz
Our U11s start their second blitz of the season tomorrow morning with plenty silverware on offer. Promises to be a great mornings entertainment so if ya have a spare hour get down to Ashgrove for 11.30 to be entertained.
4th Division Result: Crusaders 0 Mooncoin Celtic 1
A wonder strike from Stephen Blackmore was the difference between these two sides on a soggy pitch. Chances came and went for the lads all day with Stephen Blackmore being guilty of 7 or 8 chances but only one goal to show for it, the one that mattered thank god. The return of Mick ‘golden boots’ Foran also boosted the side as three points were secured. Abbeyside away await next Sunday morning at 11.
U12 Result: Mooncoin Celtic 3 St Paul’s 1
St Pauls came to town on another wet and wild day. Conditions were less than ideal. We started playing into driving wind and rain . The 1st half was a dogged battle against the elements. Both teams struggled to play any flowing football and the score was 0.0 at the break. We took control of the 2nd half and two wonderful long range strikes from Canice Kinsella but us into a commanding 2.0 lead. We looked comfortable until St Pauls pulled 1 back with a rasping shot that gave Paddy T no chance in the goal. We fought tooth and nail to stay in the lead with the back line of Conor Byrne,Liam Joy , Jack Walsh and Alex Kennedy standing firm. With 2 mins to go Luke Horgan Geraghty found himself 1 on 1 with the keeper and calmly slotted home. Great squad performance today on a wet an heavy pitch. Man of the match Liam Joy with Anil Ramsaway a close 2nd.

u12 girls
Our u12 girls entertained Carrick today in a friendly in Ashgrove.
In Cold and Windy conditions The Younger girls of the u14s squad took on an energetic Carrick team. Down on numbers due to illness and the Kilkenny Game , Carrick came to our rescue giving us not one but two of their players . Aine and Clara . The girls started out well but 15 minutes in to the game the experience of the Carrick team shone through . Carrick ran out deserving winners today . But lots learned for the Mooncoin girls. Sophie Scahill settled into the role of defender very well today, Saoirse Dunphy at the tender age of 8 gave a fine display today, never one to let the side down , she stood up to defy her age. Also a big shout out to Katie Tolan who spent the bulk of the match as goalie today. She did a fine job on her first outing between the sticks. Thanks to Janice and Martin and Carrick for today’s game and we look forward to our next meeting .
2A result: Dungarvan 7 Mooncoin Celtic 0
After last weeks promising point against Southend, the lads travelled to Dungarvan in good spirits but were well and truly given a lesson. 4-0 down at half time, things improved slightly in the second half.
U13 league result: Ballinroad 6 Mooncoin Celtic 1
A day to forget for Derek’s squad as a hungrier Ballinroad showed why they are serious contenders for league honours. 4-0 down at half time courtesy of some iffy offsides and soft defending. The second half saw an improved Mooncoin Celtic side come into the game more. Our goal came from Eoin O’Callaghan from the edge of the box where he chipped the keeper.
Sherwan fitted in well on the right side of defence as absentees forced a reshuffle.
Bad defeat for this team but no doubt they’ll be back on the training pitch more determined to show their true strengths in the next outing.
