U10 Girls played Park Rangers in picturesque Faithlegg this afternoon and put in their best performance of the season. Short a lot of girls we had the minimum seven girls and by God did they perform.
Themselves and Park Rangers put on a superb hours entertainment with goals, saves, tackles and most of all smiles galore. Park Rangers held the upper hand on the scoreline by 4-2 but this was a close run game. Anna Reddy and an absolute cracker from Saoirse Dunphy were our goalscorers. Very proud coaches afterwards who couldn’t hide their delight for the girls. Training continues Wednesday at 6 in Carrigeen Astro Turf.
Cracking game in Ashgrove this afternoon. Our visitors Park Rangers came much improved since we played them last and gave us a hard game from the start. We had the better chances early on and maybe should have had a few goals but it didn’t happen that way. We had 11 players today due to a few injuries but everybody deserves appreciation for their hard efforts. Adam Conway took up his new role again in goal and did very well in communicating with the defenders. Liam Hogan and Ciara O’Keeffe were solid as usual at Centre half. Alex Bailey right back ran all day long and was brilliant in defending and also got himself up the pitch and involved in many attacks. Conor Dermody was breaking through the defence with some very strong runs and was unlucky on many occasions. Eoin O’Callaghan came out on the right wing and out of his comfort zone until he got back in Centre midfield late in second half and made a difference. Lee Freyne played Centre midfield and was at the Centre of everything spraying balls around the pitch. Matthew Morahan played upfront today and he was very effective coming back for the ball and passing it straight away. 0-0 at half time. Emily Blackmore played beside Matthew and she also got very involved in passing the ball out the wing where we were most effective. Park rangers came out stronger in the second half and went 1-0 up just after half time. They pressed us very hard up to the last 10 mins. Mike O’Keeffe player very well at left back. We made a change just before the goal which caught us out however we picked up momentum from there and we threw everything we had at them. Eoin O’Callaghan got into 6th gear and he pressed really hard working very well with Alex Bailey after a ball from Tom Conway and Eoin managed to get the ball in the goal to equalise. Park Rangers tried very hard to score a winner but 2 mins into injury time Lee Freyne right from the training ground supplied the killer thru ball for Tom Conway to bury the winner high into the net! Huge celebrations on the sideline !!! Great to see Sam Hartwell and Daniel Roberts there to cheer on the team both having suffered broken bones. Speedy recoveries boys and hope you will be back soon! Well done to all today!

Portlaw were visitors for today’s game and with only 3pts seperating us in the table it was going to be a tight tense encounter.
We started the game at a high tempo and went close in the opening twenty minutes with chances from Evan, Dan Fewer and James.
Portlaw weathered the storm and started to get on top in midfield and created several chances from set pieces.
They opened the scoring from the penalty spot when a long throw evaded a few defenders and when it fell between opposing players the ref deemed a mooncoin player to have committed a foul.
A small tactical change at half time bought a renewed energy to our performance and we went close to equalizing through James and Lee.
We were well on top at this stage and the crucial goal arrived after ten minutes of the second half when James forced an error from the visiting keeper and finished his chance to make it 1-1.
We continued to make all the play but the visitors had chances on the counter attack and only for some resolute defending we could’ve been behind again.
The last quarter of the game saw numerous chances created but no luck to get that elusive second goal.
A dissapoining 1-1 result despite dominating possession for long periods and creating numerous chances .
We stand a point clear at the top with five games to go .
We had carrick at home on a wet and wild morning. Conditions werent ideal but both teams put in a great effort. We started well and had most of the possession but couldnt find a way through a packed defence. Carrick nearly went ahead but a fine save from paddy t murphy in goal kept them out. We took a deserved lead after a great lob from robbie doherty . Carrick equalised soon after .1 apiece at half time. The second half was similar to the first we pressed but got caught on the break 2.1. We got a well deserved equaliser when the tireless darragh alyward broke from the right n blasted home with 10 mins left. With less than 5 mins left carrick pounced on a long ball to go 3.2 up. But credit to this squad they dug deep and never gave up. They got what their hard work deserved when jamie croke blasted home to level with 2 mins left. Great performance from all 17 players . Man of the match Canice Kilsella with an honourable mention to Daragh Alyward.
Brilliant performance from the team today in very wet and mucky conditions. We started from the off today with a plan that was well worked in training during the week. We applied the pressure straight away and keeping the short passing movement which had Piltown on the back foot from the off. We had 11 players today due to illness and all 11 were fantastic. Emily Blackmore doesn’t fear any call up to any level and caused the Piltown defence a nightmare with her quick movement, thinking and passing. She supplied an excellent pass for Sam Hartwell to open the scoring after a fine run. Eoin O’Callaghan playing a new role in central midfield is getting better every game and was instrumental in the performance and linked the passing all day. He latched on to a ball from Tom Conway to score our second. Liam Hogan and Ciara O’Keeffe were solid as a rock at Centre half and left very little passed them. The communication between the two is a joy to watch. Alex Bailey played on the right hand side and was excellent defending and attacking he created chances and won every ball going back. Mikey Cronin at left back didn’t put a foot wrong all day and cleared the ball every time linking brilliantly with Tom Conway on the left wing who beat the defenders with every move to cause a lot of problems passing the ball across the defence. Lee Freyne in central midfield was involved in everything and gave a sublime pass to Sam to get his second goal. Lee controlled the midfield. 3-0 at halftime. Piltown came out much stronger in the second half and had a few chances but our new goalkeeper Adam Conway had other ideas and a clean sheet and attitude to take the job in the first place to help his team won him man of the match today! Our next goal was a goal fit to win any football match a long ball down the pitch see Eoin O’Callaghan latch on to the put the ball into the top corner from 30 yards out.A goal to remember for Eoin.. Daniel Roberts played upfront and was involved in everything we did going forward. We finished off proceedings with another great finish for Sam Hartwell for his hat trick when he finished to the top of the net. Brilliant performance from everybody. Nice to get back to winnings ways. Well done
