Viking cup at u12,u13 and u15

Over the last three days the Viking cup at u12,u13 and u15 have been taking place in WIT and we had 3 representatives playing with the Waterford squads. Mia Ponce de Leon at u12, Emily Blackmore at u13 and Ciara O’Keeffe at u15. All three girls played well against top class opposition.

Former Mooncoin Celtic player Niamh O’Keeffe now playing with Piltown also played at u15 level with Kilkenny.

Big representation from our small little village. Well done girls.

U10 girls blitz in the WIT Carriganore

Our u10 girls took part in a blitz in the WIT Carriganore complex today in glorious conditions. Our two teams played three games each and put in excellent performances against bigger and more physical opposition. Big thanks to all parents for supporting them and also a massive thanks to Dee Travers, Mossie O’Donnell, Trevor Cronin and Ritchie Lynch for looking after the teams. Good experience gained by the girls.

Waterford Girls squads

The best of luck to the Waterford Girls squads and especially our ownEmily Blackmore l, Mia Ponce de Leon and Ciara O’Keeffe as they compete in the Viking cup in the WIT Carriganore today and tomorrow.

U11s blitz

Our u11s who finished off their training blitz this evening with two cracking games.

Big well done to all the kids and also to the coaches for the great work put into the group.

300 Club members update

A little update for our 300 Club members. This months winnings was 302 euros and 7 daily millions tickets no winnings on the daily millions so total to date is 2212 euros.

It’s growing and as always, thank you for your support. The next monthly draw will take place Sunday 28th April in Doyles Bar.

U13 Result: Mooncoin Celtic 5 Tramore C 2

A convincing win but the lads did not have things all their own way against the Seasiders.
A Mikey Cronin corner which went straight to the net had us ahead but Tramore bounced back and nicked two goals.
Stephen Brennan levelled things up with a cracking free kick and they went in at half time all square.
There was a rip roaring start to the second half with young Josh Mcloughlin terrorising the Tramore defence and it was Josh who nicked his well deserved goal to make it 3-2 with a lovely finish. Mikey Cronin was starting to dominate midfield and his powerful running paid off when he won a penalty and stood up and slotted home. Chances were coming with every attack but Tramore kept breaking and went close a couple of times as well. Mikey Cronin went on a great run up the left wing after a Josh Mcloughlin effort was saved and Mikey gleefully notched another to claim his first Hat Trick. A great game to watch with two sides attacking at will.

LMS Update

Everton and Leicester defeats caused 4 fallers at the weekend leaving 32 standing heading into next week but with a lot of participants after using the big guns, we will be getting plenty fallers next week.

Fixtures for the Week

Our u15s were due to host Bohs tomorrow evening but this has been cancelled due to the weather forecast being poor.
Tuesday:
U13 home to Tramore,
kick off 6.15
Wednesday:
U11 training blitz finals
Kick off 7pm.

4th Division Cup Result: Mooncoin Celtic 1 Johnville 1

Johnville win 5-4 on penalties.

The curtain came down on the over 35s season and they can count themselves extremely unlucky to exit the cup. The evergreen Mickey Comerford got the goal but unfortunately the dreaded penalty shoot out saw the lads exit.
The older boys should be proud of their season which promised so much but an horrendous run of injuries coupled with long breaks between games did not help things. A big thank you must go to JJ Holden for his patience with the group, not an easy job juggling all the injuries. To the players, they trained away every Wednesday continuously since last August regardless of weather and deserved more for their efforts.
