A game in which the lads never really got going and probably a point gained rather than 2 points dropped. Not many chances created by either side had the score 0-0 at half time. Ferrybank scored 1st after the break, but almost immediately Mooncoin fired back with another super free kick from Ryan O Grady. Ferrybank came back at us again & we spent most of the game defending and held on for the point. Heads will have to be kept up and onto Monday for the last league game home to Tramore. Our u11s entertained De La Salle on Tuesday evening and two excellent games took place between the two clubs with little between them. This squad play Park Rangers next Monday in what is likely to be their last game of the season.

A red hot Carrick showed their experience but not before our girls rattled them for the first quarter. Carrick got on top after that and gradually turned the screw against our young side. It is a case of taking the pain this season and reaping the rewards next season with loads of experience gained.

The sun set on our season tonight in Kilmacow and unfortunately our title hopes bit the dust following a 1-1 draw.
The home team were hungry for a result to avenge the defeat earlier in the season.
There weren’t too many high points or chances created in the first half and to be fair to the lads they were honest enough to acknowledge that themselves at half time.
The second half began with renewed energy and several chances were created as we looked to grab control of the game .
We slowly ramped up the pressure on our opponents and were rewarded when Dan Fewer played a neat pass into Dylan and he made no mistake with the finish after 75 mins.
The closing minutes were a nervous affair as the home team forced us deep into our own half with relentless pressure.
A quick throw into the box bobbled around and the hesitancy allowed the Kilmacow striker to lob it in to the roof of the net with time almost up.
A dissapoining few days with two tough games in quick succession and tonights performance was possibly a result of Sunday’s cup exertions.
As I’ve said before these young men have matured into a very good outfit and have a bright future in the game as the club moves onto an exciting new chapter with the pitch development.
As with any sport they’re are highs and lows, trophies won and near misses but as a management team we got the most satisfaction out of seeing improvement in everyone of the lads that were involved in the group during that time .A terrific bunch of lads with great team spirit and fantastic work ethic in each of them.
So I’ll sign off for this season with a big thanks to every player that came and performed for the club over the last two seasons.

Tonight our youths play their last league game away to kilmacow at 6.30. A win will see them go back top of table an put pressure on johnville to win their last game to take the title , the lads have put in a great effort all season and it would be great to have as much support as possible this evening for the lads. Best of luck to the squad and management

This evening sees Ireland u17s face Czech Republic in the RSC at 7pm and the game will be shown live on RTE as well as other channels. 9 of our u13 squad will act as player escorts for the game, so keep an eye out for the kids. Also , well done to u15 coach Richard Long who volunteered himself for behind the scenes work and was involved for the Holland v Sweden game last Friday and will be involved this evening for the Ireland game as well.

After a nervous shaky start it was De la Salle that took a deserved lead on 10 minutes and played the better football throughout the first half. A super free kick on the stroke of half time by Ryan o’Grady levelled things up.
A better second half with plenty of changes being made shaking things up and one of those changes Liam Quinn won the penalty which Kieran Fagan converted to seal the win. With Kilmacow beating Ferrybank it still leaves a gap of three points to Kilmacow in second place who have two games less played and eight points to St Paul’s who have three games less played. Kilmacow travel to St Paul’s on Thursday evening and our lads travel to Ferrybank. Points on the board are crucial and wait to see if the pressure gets to Kilmacow and St Paul’s.

Due to a participant picking Wolves a second time, Arsenal was their designsted pick as per the rules and with the other remaining participants picking Man Utd Arsenal and Arsenal , the final four go on to next week and the last week of the premier league. Who’d have thought Brighton and Huddersfield could be so good today??? On to next week we go.

The two top teams in the division went toe toe in an epic cup semi final in Ozier park today .
As holders of the cup we were highly motivated to turn in a performance to try secure a crack at retaining the trophy but came up against a top class Johnville side who just edged the result 2.1..
We started the game brilliantly and had most of the possession and the football we played was top quality in the early exchanges.
The midfield bossed the pace of the game with their pressing , tackling and passing .
We opened the scoring after 15 minutes when a great ball from Dan Cleary deep into the Johnville area caused confusion between defender and keeper , when the ball popped up Evan Cleary was well placed to head home.
We continued to force the game and a few more chances went astray before Johnville started to get more of the play in the 10 mins before half time.
The equaliser came when a clearance was intercepted and a shot from just inside the box found the net.
The opposition forced the tempo of the game in the second half and we had to work extremely hard to create anything and restrict Johnville to the minimum of chances.
They had the luck on the hour mark when a surging run from a midfielder took him to the end line and when his delivery arrived in the box the centre forward reacted first to head home off the cross bar.
The last half hour was played at a frantic pace as both teams soaked up pressure and counter attacked to try and force the crucial goals to book a spot in the final.
Despite the few tactical and personel changes we got plenty of balls into the box but we didn’t have the luck in seeking the equaliser.
The lads can consider themselves unlucky to lose out but full credit to the Johnville players and coaches on their second half performance which ultimately swung the game in their favour.
Disappointment is hard to take in any walk of life but thats what we sign up for in sport, today didn’t go our way but these young men have done themselves proud this season and are a credit to their parents and families.
The future of the club looks in good hands with these lads coming through to junior football next season.
Although we have a league game still to play, the management want to thank the parents for their support throughout the season in getting the lads to matches , training and being vocal on the line for all our games this season .Greatly appreciated 👍🏻
