Heavy Heart

It is with a very heavy heart that we share the sad news of the passing of one our ladies team player’s, Kate Corcoran at the tender age of 21. A committed young lady who only started playing last year, training under the darker lights in Ashgrove ahead of our debut season in the Waterford league. There was never a session went by where Kate didn’t leave her mark, with her enthusiasm for a tackle shown on her team mates. Kate was one of the original girls who has stuck at it through good days and bad days, playing a key role in the establishment of our Ladies team alongside her little sister Ciara and stepmum Sarah, and starring in their first win up in Cahir in the lashing rain. Kate loved the rain, be it in training or matches as her team mates recalled this evening. As a ladies team and club, we are devastated beyond belief for the Corcoran family and will do our best in the coming days, weeks and months to help in anyway possible. Thank you must go to the following clubs Bohemians, Waterford Crystal, Tramore and Dungarvan United and all match officials for their understanding on Sunday morning when the news broke.
Rest in Peace Kate, a beautiful young woman taken far too soon.

First trip to Ballinroad for these lads in the u14B league this morning. Ballinroad were sharper today especially their centre forward who scored a peach of a goal in the second half to make it 4-1 and complete his hat trick. Sweet goal from the edge of the box for Naoise in his first foray in midfield. Conor was unlucky not to win a penalty in the first half. Final result was 4-1 to the home team.

U12 Girls Result Southend 6 Mooncoin Celtic 4

No fewer than ten goals scored in this one. Southend started the strongest and notched an early goal. Our girls got themselves the equaliser soon after though.
Some good attacking play from Southend brought it to 3-1 at half time.
The girls gathered themselves at half time and scored three goals without reply to bring it to 3-4 in the second half. A late surge from our opposition finished the game at 6-4. A hat trick from Aoibhe V and one from Molly in this thoroughly entertaining and end to end game.

u11B team were away to De la Salle Saturday morning and started off great, we were on the front foot for the first 15 minutes against a well organised side. We didn’t take our chances and went one goal down, we equalised but was ruled offside was a tight call, 3-0 at halftime. The lads started off great in the second half. Scored 3 goals which were ruled offside. We did get 1 goal from a counter attack from a corner kick Dennis put the through ball into Kai and was side by side with a defender and turned him and lobs the goalkeeper. Great goal and great assist. the boys played great and were very unlucky now onto the next game โšฝ๏ธ

Congratulations

All in Mooncoin Celtic send their congratulations to Bradley Nolan who is part of the Waterford U14 Development squad and played his part in a 3-1 win against North Tipperary today. This young man has a big big future ahead of himself and we looking forward to following him along the way. Keep up the great work Bradley.

Ladies League: Villa 2 Mooncoin Celtic 1

We started the game brightly and took the lead with a great cross from Bethany Carroll that found Emily Blackmore who turned and finished with a great left foot finish into the bottom corner. The rest of the first half was a fairly evenly matched contest. In the 2nd half Villa came out sharper and got their reward with a good strike from distance after we failed to close down after clearing a corner. Villa then took all 3 points with a poor goal for us to concede. Both teams got what they deserved in the end.

U16 Girls Waterford Crystal 0 Mooncoin Celtic 5

This morning we took our largest group to date into play Waterford Crystal, with all girls getting valuable game time and every girl putting in a great effort for the team and each other. From the kick off our girls were in control of the game but with our opposition playing very defensively it took us a while to get a shot on target. The breakthrough eventually came after 22 minutes when the inform รine Connery got on the score sheet.
We made a number of substitutions at halftime and after 10 minutes in the second half รine struck again for her second on the day and her 7th in her last 3 starts(an amazing record). The third wasnโ€™t long in coming with Ella Brennan getting in on the act. Midway through the half we claimed a fourth goal from Aoibhe Rees. We continued to press for more and the girls persistence paid off when Caoimhe Fanning scored the fifth and final goal. Our goalie and defence smothered any potential treat that came their way from a young and determined Crystal team who if they keep at it their day will come.Good day at the office. Well done girls
