Munster Cup WU17: Mooncoin Celtic 0- 5 Macroom FC

Today’s fixture was a home game againsts Macroom FC’s U17s Premier team in the Munster Cup Competition .

The game started out an even enough affair and both teams tested the other in almost every position on the pitch .

As the game progressed Macroom grew into the game and when the chances arose they grabbed them with both hands and slotted to the net.

Overall it was a very sporting and well contested game .  Enjoyed by all .

A great spread of soup and sandwiches and plenty of chatting between both sides afterwards , made for a very enjoyable afternoon .

U14b Boys: Villa FC 4 – 0 Mooncoin Celtic

We were the better side for the first 15 mins of this game but im afraid we were out on our feet after that short period of time.

We had a couple of chances to score Emily, Emmett and Sean going close but other than those chances and the first 15 mins we were 2nd best and villa deserved to win their 6th game on the trot.

Man of the match today was Finbarr Purcell who was absolutely brilliant all game with Emmett cusack a close 2nd putting in great shift in the second half.

Action packed evening in Suir Crescent

An action packed evening in Suir Crescent with Mooncoin Celtic academy taking on Piltown in a mini blitz.

Plenty of goals, plenty of tackles and plenty of fun was had. Big thanks to all parents for supporting the boys and also thanks to Richie Connolly and his charges for coming down and we look forward to the return games up in Piltown.

U12b Boys: Mooncoin Celtic 1 – 1 Stradbally

12 weeks after our last competitive match we faced a tough Stradbally team in sunny Suir Crescent. Naturally the lads were a little rusty but went in at half time nil nil.

Change of formation with Bradley helping Ethan in the second half resulted in a goal after ten mins.

A good one two from a throw to Cathal led to a great cross from Sam and Ethan finished with a deadly volley in the six yard box. Stradbally came back strong and a number of excellent saves from Will kept us ahead.

Stradbally finally got their equaliser from a low shot in the box. Last 15 minutes were end to end and the draw was a fair result.

Well done lads, great to be back playing football again.

Schoolboys U12 Waterford Development Squad and Emerging Talent

What a week for Ethan Owens, a MCFC U12 player, as he spent some time of his mid-term break participating in the FAI Emerging Talent programme along with players from across Waterford, Kilkenny, South Tipp and WWEC leagues.

Then on Sunday he had a great performance against Kilkenny in an U12 Waterford development squad friendly game. This is a great achievement for Ethan and fair dues for all the hard work he’s put in over the last few years.
