Best of luck to all teams this weekend

Strong in the tackle, 2 goals, and a clean sheet.

There was a large gathering of players from Waterford and Cork for a U15 and U13 girls blitz of football in Carriganore at the weekend and there were 3 representatives from Mooncoin Celtic with Ciara O’Keeffe playing at U15 level and Emily Blackmore, Mia Ponce de Leon playing at the u13 level.

There were not quite halves but 3 sections played in 30 minute stints. Ciara played a good part of the 2nd and 3rd segments, confident on the ball and strong on the tackle. The u15 game ending in a draw.

In the u13 match Emily scored 2 goals in the 3rd stint, the second goal was all about being in the right place at the right time, and no better person than Emily to score that one. Mia played in goal for the 3rd stint and pulled off some good saves, the best being a one on one situation to deny a Cork attacker that was through on goal. Mia kept a clean sheet and Waterford u13 girls ran out winners of their match.

A great showing from all 3 Mooncoin girls and hopefully more to come in 2020.

NOT A WINNER

With the news breaking of the 6.8 million lotto jackpot after been won locally with the winning ticket purchased in Blanchfields, unfortunately it was not the 300 Club Syndicate, much to the dismay of everyone involved.
Congratulations to the lucky punter who did win it and enjoy the spending.
Next time lads, next time!

Under 12 B league Mooncoin 1 DLS 0

Our first game in 8 weeks at at time we showed a bit of ring rustiness. That being said we domainted this game from start to finish but found it hard to breakdown a stubborn DLS who defended on mass for the full hour. We needed a spark to score and our 3 subs of Liam Mackey, Jake Doherty and in particular luke Harrington gave us that spark. The breakthrough came when josh McLoughlin latched onto a thru ball and finished bravely into the bottom corner despite the attention of 2 defenders and the on rushing keeper, a good game to blow off the cobwebs the whole squad performed well but our man of the match goes to Darragh alyward who was brilliant from start to finish.

LMS Update

Our three remaining contestants have decided to split the prize money of €500 between them. Congratulations to Joey O’Hanlon, Conor Ryan and Emmet Russell on lasting the pace. Massive thanks to all that entered and a new competition will start in a couple of weeks time.

U11 Green Group away to Bohs

There were two changes in the venue and an earlier start (10am) and some tired heads with all of the lads staying up late for the Late Late Toy Show but none of this distrubed the great progress the u11 green squad are making.

The WIT Arena out in Carriganore was a fine setting for 2 cracking matches between Bohs and Mooncoin, there were loads of goals, clear passing some great saves and huge smiles at the end of this match.
